Make It Monday #86 At The Memory Nest

Hello everyone! Good Monday morning to you! We enjoyed a warm spring weekend and we are looking forward to more!

Today is Make It Monday at The Memory Nest, and Leslie has created another fun sketch for us to work with!

I loved the spot for some flair, so I wanted to be sure and include a piece on my layout. I knew I had quite a few flair pieces with a summer theme, and since we are finally warming up (and seeing some sunshine!) I wanted to use a summertime photo. In keeping with my goal to get more of my older photos scrapped, I pulled this one of Matthew from 2002.

I used October Afternoon's "Summertime" collection for everything on this layout, with the exception of the sun and the enamel dots. I also did something that I very rarely do - use patterned paper for my background instead of plain white cardstock. It took me a while to get used to it and not feel like it was too busy, but the more I look at it, the more I like it! It's nice to do something a little different once in a while.

Be sure to check out The Memory Nest to see the beautiful layouts from the rest of the design team. I can't wait to see what you create with this sketch!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have a great day!

  1. I love your take on that sketch and great choice of papers! Way to go scrapping your older photo too, Lori! :)

  2. Super page and I love the patterned background paper it's perfect for your photo.

  3. This is so sweet. Great use of patterns to help tell your story, too.

  4. Wonderful layout and such pretty paper to go with that great photo too :) Love this week's sketch great for scraps.

  5. Nicely done! I love PP BGs! But know what you mean about stepping out of your comfort zone. Also, I too seem to have layouts that I create, that I hate, "grow on me" the longer I look at them, LOL! Good thing, right?!

  6. Lori, love how you used the sketch!! Pretty colors and adorable picture!!
