Just a Little Update

Hello, everyone! I hope you are having a good day! Today is the day that Abby and Ada will be over after school for supper and visiting and I can't wait.

I just wanted to pop on here really quickly and give a little update and let you know what is going on around here. I have stepped down from the majority of the design teams that I am on so it may seem a little quieter around here. No, I am not quitting scrapbooking - I'm not even taking a break from it - I just decided it was time for me to take a step back and just create for me for a while.

You see, the main thing that used to motivate me - which was working with a deadline and having to have a project made by a certain time - is now the one thing that is hindering my process. I started to find that when I had to go to my scrap room to make a layout that needed to be made that week, or even that day, that I was actually dreading it. I have never in the last 23 years of scrapping ever dreaded going to make a layout and I knew it was time for a change before it got to the point of me just wanting to quit all together.

I have loved my time on every design team that I have ever been on and I have made so many wonderful friends while on those teams. I cannot think of one over the last six years that wasn't a joy to be on. It was hard for me to make this decision but I knew that it had to be done.

I have so many projects that I want to do that are just for me. I want to work more on my Project Life albums. I have been working on them since 2018 and still not a single one of them is completed. Now is the time to get them done! I want to work more in my traveler's notebooks. I want to finish - or maybe I should say do a complete do over - of Ada's 1st year album. I mean she is 7 now and that is still not done! I want to finish her 2019 Summer Bucket List. I have several scrappy classes that I want to play along with as they are happening instead of instead of just watching and never getting anything done with them. I have 3 commissioned albums that I need to get done, The list goes on and on. All of these projects I have been putting on hold because they didn't fit in with a challenge that I needed for a DT layout and those commitments had to be met first. Now is the time for me to scrap what I want, when I want!

With all that being said - I am staying on the Sketch N Scrap design team - I'm always going to need a sketch to get me started! - I am continuing on with The ScrapRoom design team - working with the Shots of Life kit every month is what keeps me wanting to finish up my PL albums! - and I am remaining on the Lasting Memories design team. My role there is more behind the scenes but I do plan to play along there as often as I can. My good friend Lisa and I are continuing with our TN Time with Lisa & Lori and with our Great Stash Bash 2021 each and every month.

So, you see, I am not going away! I will still be posting here on my blog all of the projects that I make for Sketch N Scrap, The ScrapRoom, Lasting Memories, TN Time with Lisa and Lori, and my Great Stash Bash kit every month, along with anything else I make in between. I will also be posting to Instagram. Sometimes I post things there that are not on my blog so if you are so inclined you can follow me over there - @lori_670.

I am so excited to get going on these projects and actually see progress on them and I hope you continue to follow along with me and my scrappy journey!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today! I hope you have a wonderful day!

  1. Great job making a decision that is right for you and your own special scrapping goals. This can only bring you more "scrappi-ness" overall! I will always follow all that you do, as I love your work, Lori. So happy you made a decision that fit in well with your life and goals/pathway. Bravo! :) ~ Ali

  2. That took courage, I know, but it will be the best thing for you. I know you will be missed where you are leaving. I pretty much know you from your blog and TN and LM (I lurk, hoping to motivate myself ha!), so I'm thinking I'll still see you as usual! Go for it! xoxo

  3. I have been at this fork in the road quite a few times in life, and it always turns out for the better when I make those changes that are healthiest for me. Even if at the time, it doesn't feel that way.... I'm so happy for you to have more time to do the things that bring you joy. Best wishes.
