Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #266

Hello, everyone! I hope that if you were able to enjoy the long weekend that it wasn't too hard to get back at it today!

Today I am sharing my take on this week's sketch at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. Here is a look at the sketch:

When I saw the circle element on this sketch I knew I would be pulling out this fun stamp from DRS Designs - Birthday Flower Circle. I also wanted to try using colors that I don't tend to use when I make cards, so today I went with blue.

I have a little box that holds some 6x6 papers from paper pads that are about used up, or that are loose from their pads. I found two blues in that box that matched and used them for my card today. Like I said, not my typical go-to color, but I'm happy with the results. I do think I may go back and add a little flower or two to the banner piece. It looks a little plain to me...

Tomorrow will be the full design team reveal and last week's Top 3, so be sure to stop by Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge and check it out! We would love to see you playing along with us!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a great day!

Use Your Stuff #313 - Washi Tape

Hello and Happy Monday! I hope you had a good weekend and are ready for the new week.

Use Your Stuff has a new challenge posted today and this week we are challenging you to pull out that washi tape and use at least two different washi tapes on your project.

Washi tape is a much-neglected supply in my stash. I cannot resist all the pretty washi rolls, in fact, I have purchased four rolls in the last two weeks, but I rarely use it on my projects, so I was happy to see this week's challenge.

For my card, I took two different washi tape rolls, put them side by side on a piece of white cardstock, and punched several circles from the strip. I also added two rows of the green side by side on some white cardstock to be the mat of my sentiment.

I think I am going to make it a goal of mine to pull five washi tape rolls and leave them on my desk to try to use up throughout the month. Maybe then I will start to make a dent in my stash!

Head on over to Use Your Stuff to see how the rest of the design team used washi tape on their projects. We would love to see how you use your washi!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a great day!

HIMCR #354 - Any Holiday

Hello again! I am back with my second post of the day. If you are looking for my Sketch N Scrap reveal, please scroll down or go here.

We have a new challenge posted today at Hiding In My Craft Room. This week our challenge is - Any Holiday - and our sponsor is MHK Designs!

The giveaway is 3 products from their store.

Since Father's Day is right around the corner I created a Father's Day card this week:

I used the Dear Dad digital stamp set from MHK Designs. There are so many great images and sentiments in this set and I absolutely love the retro/vintage vibe of this digital stamp set. Since I wanted to stay with that retro/vintage vibe, I left my image uncolored. It makes me think of an old comic strip.

Be sure to stop by Hiding In My Craft Room to see the projects from the rest o the design team. We would love to see you playing along with us this week!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

Sketch N Scrap 6th Birthday Bash Sketch #3

Happy Saturday! Here we are at the weekend and it's a long weekend, too! It's going to be a busy weekend, but I am hoping to squeeze in some scrappy time if I can.

Sketch N Scrap has the last exclusive sketch for our 6th Birthday Bash posted today. I have loved all three of these exclusive sketches and I am sure I will be using each one of them again. Here is the great sketch that Lisa has created for us this week:

After I had chosen the photos that I wanted to scrap, I went to work pulling out papers - mostly from Shimelle's - True Stories - collection and Jillibean Soup's -  Healthy Hello - collection, mostly because they had papers with coffee cups on them, and since this is a layout of Ada drinking my coffee, I thought they would work.

I worked and worked with those papers - trying different combinations all day and could not get it the way that I wanted. I think I gave myself too many options! I finally found a combo that I liked and I went with it. So, all that trouble picking papers with a coffee theme and then I didn't even use the papers with coffee cups on them! I guess I did fussy cut three cups for my embellishments, but that was it. I am seriously patterned paper challenged sometimes!

Anyway, the story behind the layout - Ada went through a spell where she wanted to share my iced coffee - or "foffee" as she liked to call it -  with me. She never had a lot, just a sip or two, but on this day, when the "foffee" was tasting extra sweet and yummy, I had actually swapped it out with a little bit of chocolate milk!

Head on over to Sketch N Scrap to see more inspiration from the design team. We would love it if you played along with us!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a great day!

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #265

Happy Tuesday! I hope your week is off to a good start! We are on day 2 of summer vacation and after a day of running errands yesterday it feels good to just stay home and relax today.

I thought I would share my take on this week's sketch challenge at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. Michelle has created another fun sketch for us to work with:

I am getting ready to go to a baby shower for my niece this weekend and I thought a baby card was in order.

For my card, I have used Pebbles' - Special Delivery (boy) - 6x6 paper pad. The sentiment is from an older My Favorite Things stamp set - Beautiful Baby (LJD 37). I went around all of the edges of the papers with my Tim Holtz - black soot - distress ink. I die cut the stars using a Lawn Fawn Die.

I love it when a card is quick and easy and turns out cute!

The full design team reveals will be tomorrow over at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge so be sure to stop by and see all of the design team creations. Last week's Top 3 will also be announced. We would love to see your take on the sketch this week!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today! I hope you have a great day.

HIMCR #353 - Masculine

Hello, everyone! Happy Saturday! It's a rainy Saturday around here and the boys are headed to see Deadpool 2 this afternoon, so that means I will be spending the afternoon in my scrap room!

Hiding In My Craft Room has a new challenge today, and this week we want to see your masculine projects.

Our sponsor for this challenge is Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps and the giveaway is three of their images.

I had the pleasure of working with the Thankful Tommy Turtle image.

Since we needed to make a masculine project, I decided to pull out Pink Paislee's - Outfitter - 6x6 paper pad. It's a great outdoorsy type collection and the colors were great for a masculine card.

Stop by Hiding In My Craft Room to see more masculine projects from the rest of the design team. We can't wait to see what you create!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a great day!

Sketches In Thyme PL Style #102

Happy Friday! We have made it to the weekend and we are officially on summer break. It feels good to know the lazy days of summer are finally here.

It's the third Friday of the month and that means Sketches In Thyme PL Style has a new sketch posted today. This sketch is courtesy of Emma and it is another great one.

I have created a card for Ada's first-year album. I would have had the completed layout, but when I got to looking I didn't have the pictures printed for it, so I will add that when I pick the photos up this afternoon.

I have got to keep telling myself - these cards - this album is supposed to be quick and simple! More often than not I am stressing over making each card a masterpiece and at that rate, I am never going to come close to finishing this album or any of my Project Life albums!

When I was working on this card, I kept trying to think of what else I could add to it, and you know what, it doesn't need anything else. It has the date, the occasion, the journaling will be on a journaling card, so no need to add anything like that...and all total this took me a total of 5 minutes to complete. Now, that is how you get these albums done.

I found the 3x4 card in my stash, and since I put all of my cards together and out in the open in hopes of using them, I have no idea which kit it came from. I die cut the row of hearts, punched the tab, printed off "First Mother's Day" and that was it. Could I have added enamel dots, hearts, etc.? Sure, but it would have also taken me a lot longer and I am happy with the results. When this card is in the pockets with the photo and the journaling card it will look great.

I have jumped around so much in Ada's first-year album that I have no idea what holes need to be filled, so I have made it my goal this summer to sit down, write down what layouts I have made, what layouts I still want to make, print out the photos for them and get this project done.

Head on over to Sketches In Thyme PL Style to see how Tina used the sketch. We would love to see your take on it, too!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a great day!

This Is Awesome - Sketches In Thyme #325

Hello, hello! Happy Thursday! I hope you are having a good week! I'm pretty excited because my oldest son moves back home from college for the summer today. It's been almost a month since he's been home and it will be nice to spend some time with him.

Today is my day to be featured at Sketches In Thyme with my take on this week's sketch - Sketch #325, courtesy of Shawn.

I decided to flip the sketch to make it work with the photos that I chose to use of Ada's first experience with a view master. I also added a couple of additional papers along the row of photos.

I took so many photos of Ada on this day and these were some of my favorites. She was in awe of that view master! She played with it for close to an hour - which is quite a while for an almost 2-year-old! She even had to show it to Pops, she was so impressed with it! Such fun memories!

Stop by Sketches In Thyme to see more inspiration from the design team every day of the week. There's a great prize up for grabs so be sure to play along with us!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today! Have a great day!

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #264

Hello again! I am back with one more post for the day. If you are looking for my Sketch N Scrap reveal or my Scribbles Designs reveal, please scroll on down.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge has a new sketch challenge posted this week and I do believe it is going to be a favorite of mine!

I dug out my old Martha Stewart small scallop punch and an older Pebbles 6x6 paper pad ( Spring Fling) to create my card. The cupcake and the sentiment are both from one of the cut apart sheets in the paper pad and that helped this card to come together really quickly.

I am pretty sure I have a stamp set with a scalloped border in it and as soon as I find it I plan on making another card using this fun sketch!

Be sure to check out the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge blog tomorrow to see the cards from the rest of the design team and last week's Top 3 will also be announced. We do hope you can find some time to play along with us!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

Scribbles Designs Challenge #65 - Make It Masculine

I am back with my second post of the day. If you are looking for my Sketch N Scrap reveal, please scroll on down.

We have a new challenge for you today at Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog. Our challenge for you this time around is "Make It Masculine".

Make your project masculine in some nature--use greens, blues, and browns, or plaids, stripes and/or other patterns often associated with a male card or project.

For my card, I have used #961 - Sailboat Wheel.

I colored the sailboat wheel with colored pencils and I really like the way that it turned out. I found the anchor paper and the red dot paper in my 6x6 paper pad scraps and they were just what I needed to complete my card.

Head on over to Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog to see the masculine creations from the rest of the design team. We would love it if you played along with us!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a wonderful day!

Too Cute To Be A Super Villain - Sketch N Scrap #153

Hello, hello! Here we are at the middle of May already! This month is moving right along!

The middle of the month means we have a new sketch posted at Sketch N Scrap today. Heather has created a fun two-photo sketch for us to work with.

I have made a layout of Miss Ada being a "super villain". She came in one day and had her My Little Pony mask on and she had a little Nerf-style gun. She jumped up in the air and came down on one knee. I told her I liked her superhero pose, to which she replied, "I am NOT a superhero, Nana, I am a super villain!". Well, let me tell you, she is too cute to be a villain!

I added my journaling behind one of the photos with the pull tab:

The little shirt she had on had a bunch of colorful little icons on it - ice cream cones, unicorns, sunglasses, etc. - and I really wanted a patterned paper to mimic that, but since I do not buy a lot of "themed" papers, I didn't have anything in my stash like that. (I may have to change my thinking on buying themed paper!) I decided to go with the floral paper that had all of the same colors in it. I always find it a little challenging to work with paper with a slight diagonal stripe - nothing looks straight - but I measured, and measured, and it is!

I pulled the purple and navy from her My Little Pony mask for the colors of my title.

Head on over to Sketch N Scrap to see the layouts from the rest of the design team.  We would love to see your take on this fun sketch.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I will be back soon with another project to share with you!

UYS #311 - For the Moms

Hello and Happy Monday! I hope you had a good weekend. Ours was filled with lots of outside time and family fun.

Use Your Stuff has a new challenge posted today and this week we are celebrating all the Moms - or mother figures - out there.

I have created a Mother's Day card using Fancy Pants' - Office Suite - 6x6 paper pad. I have been hoarding this paper pad - and especially this floral paper - for a long time. I just love that floral paper and the colors, too. It was hard to cut into it, but what a pretty card for a special Mom to receive!

I based my card off of this older sketch from My Favorite Things:

This is one of my favorite go-to sketches to show off those pretty papers that I have in my stash.

Head on over to Use Your Stuff to see the beautiful projects the rest of the design team have created. We would love to see your creations this week!

HIMCR #352 - Super Scraps Saturday

Hello again! I am back with another post today. If you are looking for my Sketch N Scrap reveal, please scroll on down.
.
It's Super Scraps Saturday at Hiding In My Craft Room so dig into that scrap box and put them to use on your project this week!

Our sponsor this week is Fred She Said and the giveaway is a $10 gift certificate to their store.

I had the pleasure of working with the BlueJay and Raspberries colored stamp set from Fred She Said.

I was so happy to find this navy and white chevron patterned paper in my 6x6 scraps. I think it is perfect for this sweet little image.

When I die cut the image into the oval I somehow got a mark on the edge of it. Not too noticeable, but I decided to distress the edge of it with the edge of my scissors to "hide" the mark. Of course, I could not stop there, I went ahead and distressed all of the edges.

Once again I decided to leave a sentiment off for the time being. I think this card would work for many occasions so I will add the sentiment when it is ready to send.

A pretty quick and easy card and I love it!

Head on over to Hiding In My Craft Room to see the fun cards from the rest of the team and to join us this week! We are also having a design team call so be sure to check that out as well.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a great day!

Sketch N Scrap's 6th Birthday Bash Sketch #1

Hello, scrappy friends! Happy Saturday to you! Are you ready for the weekend? It's looking like it's going to be nice and hot for us - we're talking 90's on Sunday. What?! It is only May...I don't mind, the pool is ready - although the water needs to warm up a bit more before I get in it!

We have the first exclusive Sixth Birthday Bash sketch for you today at Sketch N Scrap. Lisa has created a fabulous two-photo sketch for us and it could easily be turned into a double page spread!

I created a layout of Miss Ada and her big girl braids. She has never liked her hair messed with much - just the occasional ponytail in the summer - but she actually let Abby braid it and kept it in all day long! She looks so cute, but she also looks so big!

I plan on adding some journaling - basically what I just wrote - but I would like to do it in brown and I do not have a brown pen, so that will come later after I have had a chance to get one.

Head on over to Sketch N Scrap to see the beautiful layouts from the rest of the design team. We would love to see you playing along with us!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a great day!

LM #394 - Hearts

Hello again! I am back with my second post of the day. If you are looking for my Counterfeit Kit Challenge mini kit reveal, please scroll down.

It's time for a new challenge at Lasting Memories! Our theme for May is "Variety of Shapes" and this week we are wanting to see you use one or more hearts on your layout.

So, Ada had been seeing commercials (and watching Youtube videos) for Num-Noms Snackable Cereal and thought that she might "need" them. The next time we went to town we found them and I asked her if she would like to get one, to which she replied - yes! She knew all about how to do them (thanks to the Youtube videos) so we filled the little bowl with water and waited for the "special one" to dissolve out of the little fizzy ball. She thought they were really cute and had quite a bit of fun playing with them - at least for that day. They are currently still sitting on the edge of the bathroom sink where she left them and it is now three months later! Thank goodness she wasn't too taken with them - at $8.88 they were a little pricey!

For this layout, I used a sketch from Scrapbook Generations latest class - 6x6 Paper Pads 2 with Allison Davis. I love this ebook! It is a fantastic resource to have - 86 total sketches all using 6x6 papers - and I am so excited to work my way through each one!

Head on over to Lasting Memories to see the beautiful - heart filled - layouts from the rest of the design team. We would love to see you playing along with us!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a great day!

CKC May Mini Kit Reveal

Hello, everyone! Happy Sunday to you! Did you enjoy National Scrapbooking Day yesterday? There were so many fun challenges posted, it was hard to keep up!

Today is the mini kit reveal over at Counterfeit Kit Challenge. Since I knew I had a lot going on this month, I signed up to make a mini kit. Here's a look at the inspiration kit Leslie has chosen for us this month from Mind The Scrap.

As Leslie pointed out in the "Just The Gist Of It" post - the top row of papers in the photo above are very rich in color, while the bottom row of papers is more playful.

I have gone more with the bottom row for my mini kit:

Here's a look at the papers I picked. When I saw the black and white stripe floral paper I immediately thought of the pink and white floral stripe paper from Shimelle's - Little By Little - collection which I have in my stash and barely used! All of these papers are from that collection with the exception of the black and white dot paper, which is from Illustrated Faith's - CHRISTmas collection.

I probably could have stuck with just the stripe, the green, and the black and white, but I went ahead and pulled the circle paper and the paper with all of the hearts on it in case I wanted to fussy cut from them.

For my embellishments, I pulled some of the die cuts and the 6x6 paper pad from the Little By Little collection, along with the big Shimelle sticker book - just in case! I had some Heidi Swapp gold glitter tiny alpha stickers and some gold phrases that I also pulled.

Here is my layout of Miss Ada when she first came home from the hospital:

Here are a couple of close-ups of the title area and the embellishment cluster:

I didn't end up using any of the circle or heart paper on my layout, or too many of my embellishments, so I am hopeful that I will be able to make a few cards for her first-year project life style album made with what is left.

Be sure to stop by Counterfeit Kit Challenge to see the mini kit that Susan has put together based off of the inspiration kit. We would love to see your kit - whether it's a full kit or a mini kit, so be sure to link up!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day!

Sketch N Scrap Card Sketch #121

Hello, scrappy friends! Are you enjoying all of the fun on this National Scrapbooking Day? I sure am!

Sketch N Scrap's first card sketch of the month is posted today. Heather has created a fun sketch for us to work with. How will you interpret it?

I thought that since we are celebrating our 6th birthday at Sketch N Scrap this month that a birthday card was in order.

I knew when I saw the sketch that I would be using a plaid paper for my main panel, so I went in search of one in my stash and found this one from an older Simple Stories collection - Homespun - one of my most favorite collections!

The sentiment is from a Close To My Heart stamp set (B1537) - one of my favorite birthday stamps right now.

Head on over to Sketch N Scrap to see how the rest of the design team has interpreted this fun sketch. We would love to see your take on the sketch, so be sure to play along with us!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a great evening!

Sketch N Scrap 6th Birthday Bash Crop - Pre-Crop Challenge

Hello, hello! Happy Friday! Tomorrow is the day that we scrappers have been waiting - National Scrapbooking Day! There are so many challenges that have already been posted today and more to come tomorrow. Are you going to be playing along with any? I know I am going to try! I've already told my husband that I plan to stay in my scrap room and scrap all day - and he even offered to make supper tomorrow - can't beat that!

Not only is it National Scrapbooking Day tomorrow, but we are also kicking off Sketch N Scrap's 6th Birthday Bash over on our Facebook events page. In fact, we kicked off things a little early and posted a challenge for you today!

The challenge is to use the card sketch below and create a BIRTHDAY card using it - in honor of this being our birthday month, of course!

For my card, I have used We R Memory Keepers - Notables - 6x6 paper pad. The "1 year older" stamp is from Close To My Heart (S1803) and the "hip! hip! Hooray!" stamp is from Elle's Studio's "Happy Birthday" stamp set. Both were stamped using Close To My Heart's - outdoor denim - ink pad.

I was going for a more masculine card and I think I accomplished that. What do you think?

Be sure to check out our 6th Birthday Bash Crop over on our Facebook events page. We would love to have you join in the fun with us! You can find out all about it here.

Don't forget - we will have an exclusive "NSD" sketch posted on the Sketch N Scrap blog tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. CST. Stop by and check it out!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a great day!

Thinking Of You - Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #262

Hi, guys! I am back with one more project today - my card for this week's sketch challenge at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. Here is this week's sketch:

For my card, I have used Crate Paper's - Wonder - 6x6 paper pad. I just love this corally pink color! I made a set of lollipop flowers - which I think may be my favorite to make. They are just too cute! The sentiment is from a Hero Arts stamp set and it fits perfectly in the space.

This card came together really quickly once I got the little flowers made.

The full design team reveals will be up on the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge blog tomorrow, along with last week's Top 3, so be sure to stop back by and see the beautiful cards that have been created using this sketch.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

Scribbles Designs Challenge #64 - Midway Post - Favoring the Feminine

Hello again! I am back with my 4th post of the day. If you are looking for my Sketch N Scrap reveal or my reveals for LTSCB and LTCCB, please scroll on down a bit.

It's time for the midway post at Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog. Our challenge this time around has been - Favoring on the Feminine - we want to see your "girly" projects.

When I think of feminine projects, the color pink and flowers come to mind, so that is what I went with for my card.

I used one of the free digital images from the store - #F23 - Flower 1. I repeated the image to get my row of flowers and then cut around the bottom edge to get a scalloped feel to it. The front panel was cut just a smidge shorter so that the strip of pink dot paper could show. I also printed the same image a little larger and fussy cut it for the focal point of my card. I colored the flowers with colored pencils and it's a little hard to tell in the photo, but the center of each of the flowers have a bit of Wink Of Stella added to them to get a bit of a sparkle.

Be sure to check out all of the beautiful girly projects from the rest of the design team over on the Scribbles Designs blog. We can't wait to see what you create!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day!

LTCCB #22 - May Anything Goes

I am back with my third project of the day! If you are looking for my Sketch N Scrap reveal or my LTSCB reveal, please scroll on down.

Love To Craft Challenge Blog has a new "Anything Goes" challenge posted today. You can enter any type of craft project that you would like!

I have created a card for my project today:

I had these three papers from Maggie Holmes' - Gather - 6x6 paper pad on my desk and I thought they would work well together for my card. I also had picked up her big sticker book at Hobby Lobby right after Christmas and this butterfly was the perfect fit for my card. I stamped the "hello" sentiment from an older Bo Bunny stamp set, I believe.

I based my card off of this sketch from March from Laurel Seabrook Designs Sketch Saturday series - such a fun sketch!
Be sure to stop by Love To Craft Challenge Blog and see all of the fun projects from the rest of the design team. We hope to see you playing along with us!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I will be back soon with another project to share with you!
