Love Love Love This View - Lasting Memories #557

Hello, hello! Happy Sunday to you! Two blog posts in two days...that hasn't happened in a while! Things have been kind of quiet around my blog lately, thanks to vacation, but I am hoping to post a little more often from here on out.

Today I am sharing the layout that I created for this week's challenge at Lasting Memories. Our theme for July has been - Layout Titles - and this week our challenge is to use the title - Love This View - on your layout. You can add more words to the title but you cannot use any less than what is provided.

Here is the layout that I created:

I based this layout on this sketch from PageMaps from November 2018:

I finally got around to using part of my February Stash Bash kit - it just took me five months to do it!  This kit has been on the side of my desk since February just waiting to be used. I even had these papers set aside for this particular photo. I don't know why it took me this long to get this photo scrapped, but I'm glad now that it did! This photo was perfect for this title challenge!

I added a couple of extra "love" words because I really wanted to use that acetate piece for part of my title. All of the embellishments - except the doilies - were included in that kit and I really tried to stick with just what was in the kit.

This photo is from last summer when Abby and Shawn took Ada camping at the lake. Abby snapped this photo of Ada looking out at the lake when they got to their campsite. It is just so cute!

Here are a couple of close-ups:

I have been looking for a "fat" heart punch for a while and I finally found one from Fiskars and I love it! I found it at Joanns and at the time it was on sale and a free shipping weekend so I got it for a great price - you can't beat that! It is called "Heart Confetti" and can be found here. The three sizes are perfect to add just a little something to your layout.

After adding the green word strip I felt like I needed a little more green around my layout and I didn't have anything - so I found a green tree on the sticker sheet that I know I will never use - so I used my punch and punched a few hearts to bring a little more of the green to my layout.

Be sure to stop by Lasting Memories to see the beautiful layouts from the rest of the design team. I hope you have a chance to play along with us!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today! Have a great day!

Bliss - Counterfeit Kit Challenge - Challenge #1

Hello, everyone! I hope that you had a good weekend and a good start to the week.

It's time for the first challenge at Counterfeit Kit Challenges today. As a little refresher - here is a photo of this month's inspiration kit - Echo Park's "Oh Happy Day" collection:

And here is a look at the kit that I put together:

For our first challenge, Master Forger Leslie is challenging us to be inspired by the name of the inspiration kit collection - Oh Happy Day - to create our layout. "Check through your photos for that great happy memory, or perhaps one of your kit elements reminds you of something happy. Use your creativity to lift spirits and bring a smile."

One of the things that always bring a smile to my face is my granddaughter! My daughter sent me this photo of her just a week or so ago - outside and enjoying the pretty spring day.

I used mostly the Echo Park - Good Day Sunshine - papers and embellishments on my layout, but I did manage to use a piece of paper from the - Oh Happy Day - collection, as well. The only thing on here that wasn't included in my kit is the doily.

Here is a close-up of the title and journaling:

I based my layout on this April 2020 sketch from PageMaps:

Be sure to check out the Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog to see how the rest of the design team took on this challenge. We would love it if you would play along, too!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today! I hope you have a great day!

Scrapbook Challenges #493

Hello again! I am back with my third post of the day! If you're looking for my reveal for The Memory Nest, please scroll down or go here. If you are looking for my reveal for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge, please scroll down or go here.

We have a great new sketch up over on the Scrapbook Challenges blog.

For my layout I used 3x4 photos, and since my title was so "heavy" in the bottom right corner, I moved the tags to the top left corner to try and balance it out a bit.

I took part of my title from Ada's shirt. It says "Think Happy" and since she is always a happy girl, I thought "Think Happy, Be Happy" was the perfect title.

Journaling says - You never know where you'll find Ada! She loves to climb up onto the beanbag chair that sits on the love seat in our bedroom - and just chill. She is such a happy girl and a true joy to be around!

Head on over to the Scrapbook Challenges blog to see the wonderful layouts from the rest of the design team. We will be back tomorrow with Sizzlin' Summer of Sketches #5, so stay tuned!

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great day!

Story Time - Sketches In Thyme #204

Hi, guys! Happy Friday! I can't believe it's the weekend already!

It's my day to be featured over on the Sketches In Thyme blog with my layout for sketch #204. This sketch is brought to us by the super talented, Brenshevia. I have been a fan of Brenshevia's sketches for a long time, so I was excited to get to work with this sketch.

supplies used - Patterned Papers and Cardstock - Close To My Heart, ink - Close To My Heart - sorbet and slate, Puffy stickers - pink hearts - Close To My Heart, white heart - EK Success, wood veneer pieces - Studio Calico, Stamps - "love this' - Kaisercraft - Shine Bright, Phrase stamps - "this moment" - Amy Tangerine roller stamp - Sealed, date/love, love, love - Amy Tangerine roller stamp - Today, Alphas - Thickers - Fun & Games.

I changed things up a bit with this sketch, but you can still see the basic design in my layout. The biggest change was using one photo instead of two, and making all of the layers behind the photo bigger.

I used the - oh so pretty - Zoe collection from Close To My Heart. I love these papers and hated to cut into them, but I am really trying to use the things I love instead of letting them sit in my stash forever.

I "smooshed" the background paper with Close To My Heart's sorbet ink, and used a doily in place of the messy circles in the upper left of the sketch. The "smooshing" warped my background paper just a bit, so I trimmed it down and matted it on another piece of cardstock.

This is one of my favorite photos of Abby and Ada. Abby had just gotten off of work and this was back when she still stayed with us one or two nights a week to cut down on her commute back and forth to work. Before they went to bed Abby would read  Ada a book. This was one of her favorites at the time - a Disney princess story book - Ada loved the pages that had Ariel on them, and I am pretty sure that Ariel is still her favorite princess a year and a half later!

Stop by Sketches In Thyme any day of the week to find more inspiration. This month Kim is offering up this prize for one lucky winner:
