Scrapbook Challenges SS '16 Sketch #13

Hello everyone! Happy Tuesday to you! How is your week going so far? We have been having gorgeous weather lately, so no complaints here!

Today over on the Scrapbook Challenges blog we have sketch #13 from our Sizzlin' Summer of Sketches.

I had so much trouble deciding how I was going to use this sketch! Use it as is with the four smaller photos, use one photo in place of the four...there are just so many possibilities with this sketch. I know I will be using it again!

In the end I decided to stick with the four smaller photos, but I used 4x3 photos in place of the 3x2's. Because the photos I used were a little bigger, I had to adapt the sketch just a bit to make it work. I really wanted to use the tags on this layout, but there just wasn't enough room to make them look right.

The blue paper on this layout is some of the oldest paper in my stash. I know I have had it since probably 2004! It also came out of my 100 Patterned Paper challenge stash, so that's one more sheet that has been used! I also used my Fiskars teeny tiny star hand punch to punch those little stars. I just love those little stars, but they are kind of a pain to work with!

These photos are of the kids from the 4th of July 2013. Shane was in a mood to take lots of pictures - thanks to the flags - so they all just had fun being silly and posing with the flags.

I am a little sad that this is our last week of Sizzlin' Summer of Sketches! Mostly sad because I didn't get as many done as I had wanted to. Hopefully I'll get a couple more made before the end of the week. Regardless, they will all be filed away for later use.

Check out the Scrapbook Challenges blog to see what the other design team members did with this sketch. You have until the end of the month to play along.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day!

My Guys - Scrapbook Challenges SS '16 #09

Hello again! I am back with another post! If you are looking for my Try Stampin' - Or Not -On Tuesday reveal, please scroll down or go here.

Sizzlin' Summer sketch #09 is up today on the Scrapbook Challenges blog, and I finally had a little time to play along! This month has been crazy busy with going back to school for Shane last week, and this week we are getting ready to move Matthew in to his dorm. I'll be glad for things to slow down and get settled back into a routine!

Anyway, here's a look at today's sketch:

I really should have turned my photo to black and white - I struggled finding paper to match the red and maroon! I did find this piece from Shimelle's Star Shine line and thought that it actually worked really well.

I kept this layout very simple - I didn't want to go overboard with the hearts, but really wasn't feeling anything else. There really isn't a big story behind this photo - it was just one of those times that I got a good photo of Matthew and Scott together. Like I said in my journaling - the only thing that would have made this photo better is if Shane was in it!

Check out the Scrapbook Challenges blog to see the layouts from the rest of the design team.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day!

Recycle It @ Scrapbook Challenges

Hello again! I am back with another project to share with you today. If you are looking for my Sketch N Scrap reveal, please scroll down or go here.

Today on the Scrapbook Challenges blog we have our July Recycle It Challenge.

Pick one of the mood boards and make a vacation layout. That's it - easy as can be! Just look at those fun colors in the mood boards! Each one just screams summertime!

We very rarely go on big family vacations. Shane does really well for a couple of days at the most, but that is about it, so we take a lot of day trips. This year for my birthday we took the family to Silver Dollar City for the day.

It's always a gamble on how Shane will react to the crowds and the whole waiting in line for the rides thing, but once we got through the admission gates and he realized where we were, he was great! It was Season Pass Holders Appreciation Days, so as season pass holders we were able to get into the park an hour before everyone else. We were able to go on quite a few rides before it got insanely busy. But even then Shane did not mind waiting in line - in close quarters - for over an hour - for his favorite - The Lost River! We were so proud of him for being patient, and it is quite an accomplishment for him. He even told us on one of the rides "No Way!" when it was his turn to get on - which was a relief for me because it looked scary!

This was Ada's first time to an amusement park, and she was still too short to ride most of the rides, and even the ones she could ride she was a little nervous on. She and I spent most of the time spectating and taking pictures. She was a good sport through it all - even though it was so hot! She never once got cranky!

For my layout I chose the July 2016 mood board, and I dug out these papers from my stack for my 100 Patterned Paper Challenge. I also used a sketch from Scrapbook Generation's newest sketch book - The Whole Picture.

That poor striped sheet has seen better days, but there is a lot of good paper still left on it! I used the entire sheet of red, about a third of the blue. The orange piece was a scrap and it is just about all gone now. There is still over half of the yellow, green, and striped piece left, but I already have ideas for them on another layout! So happy to be working my way through this stack!

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great day!

Scrapbook Challenges - Recycle It!

Hello everyone! Happy Hump Day! This week is moving right along. The weekend will be here before we know it!

We have a fun new challenge up over at Scrapbook Challenges today. Today our challenge is "Recycle It". Pick one of the three sketches below and create a Thank You card using it.

I picked sketch #383 for my card.

The only thing I changed about the sketch was the addition of the black banner piece behind the sentiment. I just felt like it needed a little extra something behind that circle.  I used Teresa Collins - Memories - 6x6 paper pad for my card. Since my sentiment (Close To My Heart A1125 - Thanks) was on the elegant side, I stuck to a more monochromatic color scheme.

Head on over to Scrapbook Challenges to see the beautiful cards from the rest of the design team. I hope you find some time to play along with our challenges this month!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day!

Mesmerized By Mickey - Scrapbook Challenges Liftapalooza - Stacia

Hi guys! Happy Friday! I am so happy to say that we now have less than three weeks of school left! Bring on summer vacation!

I am also happy to share with you the latest challenge at Scrapbook Challenges. Today we are scrap lifting Stacia!

Here is the layout that we are to scrap lift:

And my take on it:

I have always been a fan of Stacia's work, so this was a fun layout to lift. I loved the overall design of her layout and kept my layout very close to the original.

I am so happy that I got the chance to finally get these photos of Ada from last summer scrapped. One thing is for certain, she loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and she can't be bothered when she is watching it - not even for a quick picture! She's also doing one of her favorite activities - eating ice chips. Yeah, Nana has her "addicted" to strange things, like ice chips and wintergreen lifesavers - busted into pieces of course! Hey, it could be worse - like she could be "addicted" to coffee...oh wait, that's another layout!

I used some scraps and stickers from various Bella Blvd collections on this layout. To get the paper and stickers to stand out more, I outlined them with my favorite new Sharpie fine tip pen. I love this pen!

I hope you have some time to play along with some of our challenges before the end of the month. Be sure to stop by Scrapbook Challenges to see how the rest of the design team scrap lifted this layout from Stacia. For more inspiration from Stacia be sure to stop by her blog - The Dancing Daisy.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a fantastic Friday!

SBC - Liftapalooza - Lyne

Hello everyone! Happy Friday! Are you ready for the weekend? I know I am! We don't really have any plans, but that's my favorite kind of weekend! Then it's a nice treat if we do decide to do something.

We have a new challenge for you at Scrapbook Challenges today. This month we are doing our challenges a little differently. It's "Liftapalooza" time, and this time around we are showcasing our newest design team members. We have already showcased Ali, Karen, and Katie, and this time around we are showcasing Lyne! Our challenge to you is to scraplift this layout of Lyne's:

Here is my layout:

I'm not sure why my photo on the layout looks so dark - it really isn't in person!

I found these papers in my stash and they matched the colors in the photo perfectly. I loved the layers behind Lyne's photo and I knew I wanted to have quite a few behind my photo as well. I just love the peachy orange with the pinks and greens! And those acrylic letters...they've been in my stash for years! I bought them way back when acrylic embellishments wasn't the "it" embellishment! I am so happy to finally pull them out and use them! I substituted hearts in place of the stars, and a strip of paper at the bottom instead of string, but that is really the only difference in the two layouts.

Stop by Scrapbook Challenges to see how the rest of the design team "lifted" this layout from Lyne. Be sure to stop by Lyne's blog - Lynn's Everyday Ideas - to see more of her beautiful work!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you have some time to play along with us this month!

Have a fantastic day!

Scrapbook Challenges March Mood Board Challenge

Hello everyone! Happy hump day! Just 2 more days - after today - of school for my boys, then we are on spring break!

There is a new challenge up over at Scrapbook Challenges today, and today's challenge is a mood board challenge. Here is a look at the mood board:

I decided to make a card this time around. I was inspired by the greens and the shamrocks to make a St. Patrick's Day card.

I used Authentique's Lucky collection for this card. The panel that says Happy St. Patrick's Day was a 4x4 card on one of the cut apart papers. I just trimmed it down a little more so I could add it to the front of my card. Of course, no St. Patrick's Day card is complete without at least a little gold!

Head on over to Scrapbook Challenges  to see the beautiful projects from the rest of the team. I hope you get a chance to play along with us!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

Scrapbook Challenges - Crew Crush - Kate

Hello, hello! Happy Wednesday! I hope that your week is going good. We are trying to fight off colds around our house - myself included. There is nothing fun about runny noses, sore throats, and such. We are supposed to have beautiful - spring like weather the rest of the week, so I'm hoping that will help us all feel better. It can't hurt!

We have another Sketch Crew Crush challenge today over on the Scrapbook Challenges blog. Today we are crushin' on Kate!

Kate is the Queen of using graphic patterns on her layouts - something I struggle with, especially if they are big, bold prints! Kate makes using these patterns look so easy!

Here is my layout using some graphic patterns:

This layout is about my daughter, Abby, and how she came to love these wolf t-shirts. What started out as a joke has now turned into a fashion statement! She and Shawn decided back a few years ago that they needed to get matching wolf shirts - or at least somewhat matching - for the 4th of July - more as a joke than anything else. They searched high and low for the perfect shirts, and sure enough wore them for the 4th. Since then they are always on the lookout for new wolf shirts. Abby found this one a couple of years ago at Christmastime, and it is her go to shirt for Christmas Eve. She adds a scarf and cardigan with it, and she rocks it! She now thinks these shirts are pretty awesome for reals - and hopes to find one in Ada's size eventually!

Head on over to the Scrapbook Challenges blog for some inspiration from Kate and to see how the other design team members were inspired by Kate's style. For even more inspiration, check out Kate's beautiful blog - Blues Blog And My Scrappin' Fascination.

We have had so many fantastic entries already this month! I hope that you find some time to play along with us - I would love to see what you create!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful Wednesday!

SBC - Sketch Crew Crush - "Kelly!"

Hi guys! Happy Friday! Are you ready for the weekend? I know I am!

Scrapbook Challenges has a new sketch crew crush today! Today we have a crush on Kelly!

Kelly has a clean and simple style - something that I can totally relate to - and that is our challenge to you. Create a clean and simple layout.

Here is my clean and simple layout inspired by Kelly:

Kelly's style is a lot like my own, so this layout was a quick and easy one for me. I even scraplifted this layout from Kelly from last month.

Good morning everyone! I hope that you are having a good week!

Today is our first challenge and we have a Sketch Crew Crush on Mandi!

If you look at Mandi's pages, she always layers in a lot of layered little bits behind her photos. Check out her blog - MJ's Kraze - for more inspiration.

Our challenge to you is to be inspired by Mandi and use lots of layered bits on your layout.

Be sure to check out the SBC blog to see how the other design team members have been inspired by Mandi.

Officially Homeowners - Scrapbook Challenges - Recycle It

Hello everyone! Happy hump day to you! We have our first snow day today - not because of snow, but because of ice - yuck! Well, yay for no school - yuck because of the ice! We didn't get a lot, but it doesn't take a lot to make the roads treacherous.

We have a new challenge up over on the Scrapbook Challenges blog. Today we have our Recycle It challenge. Choose one of the sketches from the following graphic and create a layout about a fresh start. You also need to do some mixed media on your layout.

I chose the first sketch on the graphic for my layout about my daughter and her husband officially becoming homeowners. They signed the papers on December 30 ad we will be helping them move in this weekend! I can't think of a better subject for a fresh start!

I'm not much of a mixed media person - I just haven't taken the time to really experiment much with it. So, mists and splatters is about as adventurous as I get in this area. Maybe one of these days I'll dive in a little deeper and learn some new things!

Check out the Scrapbook Challenge blog to see the other design team members take on this challenge.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a wonderful day!
