Sketches In Thyme PL Style #112

Hello, hello! Happy Friday to you! We have made it to the weekend and that makes me one happy girl!

Sketches In Thyme PL Style has a new sketch posted today and Emma has created a fun one for us. I can see myself using this sketch over and over - it's perfect for title cards and it would be a great journaling card, too!

Here's a look at the sketch:

And here is my card:

So...I was so excited to work on this "First Halloween" spread for Miss Ada's First Year album. I already had my photos printed and was ready to go - until...I realized that I did not resize my photos for this spread and there is no way that I can cut down a 4x6 to fit into a 3x4 pocket without cutting off too much important stuff. Ugh! One of these days I'll get it all together! Or maybe it's time I invested in a photo printer for home!

I just love how this card turned out! I used scraps from an old Bella Blvd Halloween collection - Happy Halloween. Scraps is all I have left of this cute collection, but luckily they are mostly big enough to make these little cards! The letter stickers are from a little Teresa Collins sticker book and those cute little ghosties are die cut using a die from Taylored Expressions.

Ada was a shark for her first Halloween so there is a lot of grey in the photos which is why I chose the turquoise and black colors. I'm sure a bit of grey, orange, yellow, and purple will show up in this spread as well.

I am off to pick up another photo order - with the right size photos in it. I will add in the finished layout when I get it done.

Head on over to Sketches In Thyme PL Style to see the projects from the rest of the design team.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a fabulous Friday!

Sketches In Thyme PL Style Sketch #111

Hello again! I am back with my second post of the day. If you are looking for my Sketch N Scrap reveal, please scroll on down.

The first Friday of the month means we have a new sketch for you at Sketches In Thyme PL Style. Shawn has created a fun sketch for our first sketch of the month:

And here is my card:

I changed things up a bit and used patterned paper circles in place of the photos and made a title card for Ada's 11-month photos. Yeah, I am still working on her first-year album!

Here are a couple of the photos that will go in the spread:

For my title card, I have used papers from an American Crafts 6x6 paper pad. I'm pretty sure it was a Valentine's Day paper pad, but the cover is long gone! The blues are a couple of scraps that I had in my scrap box. I also used my favorite puffy alphas and puffy hearts from Pink Fresh Studio. Those alphas are perfect for project life.

I have quite a few photos from this little photo shoot...I would like to keep it to two pages, but it may have to be more like 4! I had to get some of the photos reprinted in smaller sizes, and my photo order still hasn't come in yet, so I will hopefully remember to share the completed spread(s) once they come in.

These two photos are quite similar so I will more than likely substitute one with another photo when I get my order in.

Ada is so stinkin' cute in these photos and she was such a happy girl while we were taking the pictures. Of course, her Uncle Matt and Pops were behind me acting goofy to get her to smile!

Head on over to Sketches In Thyme PL Style to see how Shawn used the sketch, too. I would love to see your take on the sketch, too.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today! Have a great day!

Sketches In Thyme PL Style #110

Hello, everyone! Happy Friday to you! We have made it back round to the weekend and I am ready for it! I have lots of scrappy plans for this weekend - I just hope it all works out! Sometimes my plans don't jive with the rest of the family!

It's time for a new sketch at Sketches In Thyme PL Style today. Emma has created a fun sketch for us to work with:

Guys, I cannot believe it - I actually used a project life card from core kit for my card! I think this may be the first time! I have hundreds...okay, maybe closer to thousands of core kit cards in my scrap room and I still have trouble using them, but I thought this colorful rainbow stripe card would be perfect for my card about Ada and her obsession with Candy Land.

I didn't think that the rounded edges of the card would bother me that much, but when I needed this card and photo to go into a 6x4 pocket side by side, I couldn't get past it! I trimmed the card down to square off the corners, then matted it onto a white 6x4 card. I love the way it turned out!

Here's a look at one of the other cards that will go along with this one in my spread:

Before I chose the project life card, I played around with the idea of using the Simple Stories - Dream Big - collection for making my cards. The colors were very similar and I think they would have worked well, too, but when I had the chance to actually use a project life card, I knew I'd better take it! I did use the ice cream cone die cut from that collection on this card.

Here's a look at both cards together:

These photos of Ada aren't the best - she cannot stay still long enough to get a good photo - but this is definitely something that I wanted to document about our "right now". I have one more photo to go with these photos and a journaling card to tell the story, so you will see the whole group when I share my completed spread. I have had a hard time getting my photos printed this week...yeah, I think I need to get a Selphy so I can just print at home! I am hoping to have my spread done by the end of the weekend.

About these photos - Abby and Shawn bought Candy Land for Ada towards the end of the summer. She loved it so much that I bought it to have at our house, too. I did not know what I was getting myself into! This girl is obsessed with Candy Land. We play it multiple times a day and Ada is really good at it! I guess you can call her lucky - she always seems to win - and when she doesn't she is a very gracious loser.

These photos were taken on the 4th of September and here we are still playing multiple games - multiple times a day - almost 3 weeks later! I don't know if she will ever get tired of it!

Head on over to Sketches In Thyme PL Style to see what the rest of the design team has created for this sketch. We would love to see what you create!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a great day!

Sketches In Thyme PL Style #108

Hello again! I am back with another project to share with you today!

Sketches In Thyme PL Style has a new sketch posted today. Today's sketch is courtesy of Emma:

Here is the card that I made:

I kept my card - and my layout- pretty simple this time around. I had originally planned on stamping my title and decided to go with a white card. If I had remembered these little letter stickers earlier I might have used a different background but there is nothing wrong with plain and simple!

These cards are all a part of my week 7 spread. Both my week 6 and week 7 were pretty thin on photos, but yet there are still too many to just combine the two weeks. This year I have decided, when I have weeks like this, to add an insert along with a single pocket page. We will see how that works.

For these cards, I have used Elle's Studio - XOXO - 6x6 papers.

Maybe one of these days I will finish the rest of the layout and share the whole thing with you! I am hoping that with being back into the old routine that I will be able to have more time to work on my Project Life album!

Head on over to Sketches In Thyme PL Style to see more inspiration from the design team. We would love to see your creations, too!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a great day!

Sketches In Thyme PL Style #105

Hello and Happy Friday! I can't believe it's Friday already! This vacation week has sure gone by fast, but it has been fun.

Since it is the first Friday of the month that means we have a new sketch posted at Sketches In Thyme PL Style. Shawn has created a great journal card for us to work with this time around:

Here is the card that I created:

Sadly, I haven't had much of a chance to work on my PL album this summer like I had planned. I am hoping to change that this next week and at least get the photos in the sleeves, and hopefully, a few layouts actually completed!

I have used a mix of Elle's Studio - Family Fun and Sunny Days - 6x6 paper. The arrow is from the Family Fun puffy stickers and the little puffy hearts are from American Crafts. The ice cream cone is from EK Success.

Here is the companion photo to the journaling card:

And a close-up of the photo. Both of the die cuts are from Elle's Studio and I just love those tiny heart puffy stickers!

This journaling card and photo will be added to my Week 20 spread for this year. I am hoping to share that completed spread later this week!

Head on over to Sketches In  Thyme PL Style to see more inspiration for this sketch.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a great day!

Sketches In Thyme PL Style Sketch #103

Hello again! This is my third post of the day. If you are looking for the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog Hop or my Sketch N Scrap reveal, please scroll on down.

Sketches In Thyme PL Style has the first sketch for June posted today and I actually have my card and my layout to share with you! Here is a look at the sketch that Shawn created for us:

One of my goals this summer is to make an effort to get Ada's first-year album (mostly!) completed, so I have made a layout for her album about her first swimsuit. First, here is the card that I created with the sketch:

I knew I would be adding my journaling on another card so that gave me the space to use a bigger embellishment. I also added a sticker and a puffy heart to the left photo.

Here is the completed layout:

I have used my June Counterfeit Kit once again! Here we are on the first day of the month and I already have two projects made with it! This time I pulled out the 6x6 paper pad that I had added to my "add-on" kit and a few of the summer themed die cuts that I had added to my kit. You can read more about my kit here.

Here is a look at the other two cards

I have a photo of Matthew helping Ada stand up where you can see her swimsuit a little better, but it's a little blurry. I plan on getting a pack of flip pockets and adding that photo behind the above photo.

We would love to see what you create with this sketch. Head on over to Sketches In Thyme PL Style and check it out!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I will be back with one more project to share with you today!

Sketches In Thyme PL Style #102

Happy Friday! We have made it to the weekend and we are officially on summer break. It feels good to know the lazy days of summer are finally here.

It's the third Friday of the month and that means Sketches In Thyme PL Style has a new sketch posted today. This sketch is courtesy of Emma and it is another great one.

I have created a card for Ada's first-year album. I would have had the completed layout, but when I got to looking I didn't have the pictures printed for it, so I will add that when I pick the photos up this afternoon.

I have got to keep telling myself - these cards - this album is supposed to be quick and simple! More often than not I am stressing over making each card a masterpiece and at that rate, I am never going to come close to finishing this album or any of my Project Life albums!

When I was working on this card, I kept trying to think of what else I could add to it, and you know what, it doesn't need anything else. It has the date, the occasion, the journaling will be on a journaling card, so no need to add anything like that...and all total this took me a total of 5 minutes to complete. Now, that is how you get these albums done.

I found the 3x4 card in my stash, and since I put all of my cards together and out in the open in hopes of using them, I have no idea which kit it came from. I die cut the row of hearts, punched the tab, printed off "First Mother's Day" and that was it. Could I have added enamel dots, hearts, etc.? Sure, but it would have also taken me a lot longer and I am happy with the results. When this card is in the pockets with the photo and the journaling card it will look great.

I have jumped around so much in Ada's first-year album that I have no idea what holes need to be filled, so I have made it my goal this summer to sit down, write down what layouts I have made, what layouts I still want to make, print out the photos for them and get this project done.

Head on over to Sketches In Thyme PL Style to see how Tina used the sketch. We would love to see your take on it, too!

Sketches In Thyme PL Style Sketch #99

Hello and Happy Friday! We have (almost) made it to the weekend and I am ready for a couple of lazy days at home. It's supposed to be super cold - so that will mean the perfect weather to stay in where it's warm and scrap! Although, I really wish it would warm up and feel more like spring.

Sketches In Thyme PL Style has the first sketch for April up today on the blog. Shawn has created a fun sketch for us:

I created a title card for Week 15 of 2017. That was the week of Easter last year and I really thought I had all of my photos printed and ready to go for that week, but when I got to looking I did not. So, one of the things on my to-do list this weekend is to get them printed.

I used papers from my Counterfeit Kit that I put together for this month and I also added a couple of the flowers that I had stamped for my forgeries, too. I can tell I am going to be making a lot more of those to use on my projects coming up.

Head on over to Sketches In Thyme PL Style to see the samples from the rest of the design team. We would love to see your take on the sketch.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a great day!

Sketches In Thyme PL Style Sketch #98

Hello, hello! Happy Friday! Here we are at the weekend once again. I am going to enjoy being able to sleep in a little later tomorrow.

We have our second sketch of the month posted today over at Sketches In Thyme PL Style. Emma has created a fun sketch for us to work with:

I stretched the sketch to make my title card for week 8.

I always like my weekly title card to fit into one of the 6x4 pockets and this sketch was super easy to stretch and make that happen. I really thought I was going to have my full spread ready to share this week - then I realized that the majority of photos for this week are on my phone and I haven't ordered them yet...I will share when I get them ordered and picked up!

Since I stretched the sketch I added in a couple of little banner pieces to the top left side. I might add a phrase sticker or something to them once I see what the feel of the overall layout is going to be.

Head on over to Sketches In Thyme PL Style to see how the other design team members have interpreted the sketch. We would love it if you played along with us!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a great day!

Sketches In Thyme PL Style #97

Hello, hello! Happy Friday to you! We have made it to the weekend and I am so ready for it! It's been a busy week for me and I am looking forward to a couple of lazy days, hopefully, filled with lots of scrappy time.

Sketches In Thyme PL Style has the first sketch of March posted today. Shawn has created a fun sketch for us to work with:

And here is my card:

So...I have really been wanting to work on my 2018 album - and this is the first card that I have gotten made for it Yeah. Life has had other plans for me! I have pictures for almost all of January already in the page protectors, but that is as far as I have gotten. No embellishing. No filler cards. No title cards. Just the pictures. I do hope that now that I have this card for February made that maybe, just maybe, I'll be able to get more done! In fact, my 2018 album is on my to-do list for this weekend. Hopefully, I'll at least get my title page done!

For this card, I have used Elle's Studio's  - Family Fun - collection. This collection is so bright and fun and I know it will be showing up more in my album.

Instead of two photos, I used one - since I had so much to say! I really liked the look of the triangle shaped piece across the front - I think it creates a little more interest as opposed to just a border strip.

My plan is to be back soon with more of my album to share - like maybe an actual completed page! I don't want to continue to let it take a back seat to all of my other projects - I would like to get somewhat caught up with 2018 and actually finish it this year!

Head on over to Sketches In Thyme PL Style to see more inspiration from the design team. We would love to see you playing along with us!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I will be back a little later with another project to share with you!

Sketches In Thyme PL Style #95

Happy Friday, everyone! Are you ready for the weekend? I know I am!

Today is the first Friday of the month and that means we have a new sketch posted today at Sketches In Thyme PL Style. Shawn has created a fun sketch for our first sketch of the month.

I am really going to try to work on Ada's first-year album more this year and hopefully get it done, so I decided to make a card for her first Valentine's Day using this sketch.

I embossed the white panel with my Swiss dot embossing folder to add a little interest - the plain white background just looked too plain to me. I die cut the heart using a die from Lawn Fawn.

Head on over to Sketches In Thyme PL Style to see how the other DT member interpreted this sketch.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a great day!

Sketches In Thyme PL Style #91

Hello again! I am back with my fourth post of the day. The first is always a busy day around here!

We have a new sketch posted today at Sketches In Thyme PL Style. Our first sketch for December is courtesy of Shawn and of course, I had to make a card for my December Daily. Here's a look at the sketch:

Since this will probably be a journaling card for when we put up our tree, I substituted circles for the triangles. I thought the circles fit the better for what I was going for. I stamped the "(heart)this tradition" onto one of the labels that I had already die cut and added it one of the circles. My journaling will be added a little later when I actually put this spread together.

Head on over to Sketches In Thyme PL Style to see how the rest of the design team interpreted the sketch. I know it's a busy month, but I do hope you find some time to get scrappy!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a great day!

Sketches In Thyme PL Style #90

Hello and Happy Wednesday! I still cannot believe that next week is Thanksgiving! Time has been a blur since Halloween and I'm sure it will stay that way until the first of the year!

Today we have the mid-month sketch posted over at Sketches In Thyme PL Style. Emma has created a great sketch for us to work with. It shows it being a journaling card, but you could easily add a photo to it instead.

I have been working on my December Daily in every spare minute that I have to try to be ready when the first rolls around. I thought this sketch would make a great journaling card for one of my days. I'm sure I will add a little something more to it - a puffy heart...enamel dots...something, but that will come once the card has the journaling on it.

Head on over to Sketches In Thyme PL Style to see the beautiful inspiration from the rest of the team. Each member has created a little something different to show how versatile these sketches can be. I hope you find some time to play along with us!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I will be back soon with another project to share with you!

Sketches In Thyme PL Style #88

Hello, everyone! Happy Sunday! I hope your weekend has been a good one so far.

The mid-month sketch is posted over at Sketches In Thyme PL Style today. Emma has created another great journaling card for us to use:

I have created a journaling card to go with the card that I made using the October 1st sketch:

This layout is of  Ada's trip to the pumpkin patch last year and will go in her 6x8 album. This trip to the pumpkin patch was filled with visiting a petting zoo, picking out pumpkins, and playing on their playground so there will be a few more layouts to share!

I've used Simple Stories - Hello Fall - collection, along with a few random scraps that matched, for these pages.

Sketches In Thyme PL Style #87

I am back with my last project of the day. The first of the month is always a busy time around here on the ol' blog!

We have a new sketch posted over at Sketches In Thyme PL Style. Lisa has created a great sketch that can be used for a filler card or for a title card:

I have created a filler card using Simple Stories - Hello Fall - collection. The colors in this collection are perfect for the photos of when Abby and Shawn took Ada to the pumpkin patch last year. I will have the complete layout on the 15th with the reveal of that sketch.

Head on over to the Sketches In Thyme PL Style blog to see how the rest of the design team interpreted this sketch. I would love it if you played along with us!

Sketches In Thyme PL Style Sketch #86

Happy Friday scrappy friends! We have made it back round to the weekend and I am so ready for it! I can't believe that it is already the middle of September! This month is flying by!

The middle of the month means it's time for our second sketch challenge at Sketches In Thyme PL Style! Our mid-month sketch is courtesy of Emma:

I am back working on Ada's first-year album and made a title card for her 8-month photos. Here is my card:

I have so many fun photos of her from her 8-month photo session. It was the perfect day - she was happy and content to just sit outside and look around at everything around her and never once did she get fussy! I've scrapped several of these photos in traditional 12x12 layouts, but of course, I wanted to add them to her first-year album as well!

We did a good job at always taking her photos on the 30th of each month of her first year, so in her album, each month will begin with her "month" photos - a 6x8 layout and then the pocket pages. Here is a look at the first two pages for her 8-month photos:

Here is a close up of each page:

And a close up of the filler card - one of my favorites!

For these cards, I've used a mix of papers from Shimelle's "Little By Little" collection, Elle's Studio "Live, Laugh, Love" collection and some papers from my stash.

Sadly, these are not all of the pages for these photos, I still have the back side of the 4-up 3x4 page, and two other styles that I need to finish! Those will be shared another day!

Head on over to Sketches In Thyme PL Style to see the beautiful work from the rest of the design team. I would love it if you played along with us!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today! I hope you have a great day!

We have a new sketch posted today over at Sketches In Thyme PL Style. We are making a bit of a change over there starting this month. We will only be posting bi-monthly, so you will be seeing new sketches on the first and the fifteenth. Here is the first sketch for September - created by the talented Shawn Lahr:

Guys - I am still working on the same spread that I was back in August! With getting ready for the start of school in August, things just got so busy that my Project Life album got pushed to the side! The entire layout is almost complete and I'm hoping that with the long holiday weekend that I will be able to finally get week 30, 2016 in the books!

I am still using a mix of Echo Park's - We Are Family and Summer Party 6x6 paper pads. I am very hopeful that I will have the completed layout to share with you later this weekend!

We will be offering up a prize this month, so be sure to link up by the 30th for your chance to win this:
