Sketch N Scrap Card Sketch #263

Hello, hello! Happy Sunday to you! I hope that you are having a good weekend. We have had a beautiful weekend with lots of sunshine and warm - upper 70s - temperatures. I am so ready for summer!

Today I am sharing the card that I created for Sketch N Scrap's April 5th card sketch. Here's a look at the fun sketch that Lisa created for us to use:

I needed a birthday card for later in the week, so that is what I used this sketch for. I went searching in my stash for some birthday papers and stickers and realized that I did not have much in the way of those. I did find Echo Park's Birthday Wishes (Girl) collection, so I pulled it out and went to work. I opted to use the tag sticker from the sticker sheet instead of a circular element. I went ahead and stamped "Happy Birthday" using Echo Park's A Birthday Wish stamp set, even though the tag has a sentiment on it. I outlined all of the papers with Tim Holtz Black Soot distress ink to give them a bit of definition.

I love this sketch and I know I will be using it again soon! Next time I will definitely use a circular element!

Just a quick FYI - we are getting ready to celebrate Sketch N Scrap's 12th Birthday in May! 12 years of free sketches for your enjoyment! I do hope you join us all month long for the celebration. We will have our regular sketches on the 1st, 5th, 15th, and 20th, a new - exclusive sketch to celebrate National Scrapbooking Day, 3 new - exclusive birthday bash sketches every Saturday starting on the 11th, and we will be having challenges every Tuesday and Thursday throughout the month! Be sure to join our Sketch N Scrap Monthly Challenges Facebook group so you don't miss out on the fun!

Sketch N Scrap Card Sketch #248

Hello, hello! Happy Sunday to you! I hope you are having a good weekend. We are finally getting a break from the terribly hot weather and I am enjoying sitting with the windows open and the nice cool breeze.

Today I am sharing the card that I created using the August 20th card sketch at Sketch N Scrap. Here is a look at the sketch:

And this is what I created:

I used scraps from my Lisa & Lori's Great Stash Bash August kit for this card. The cake sticker is from a Crate Paper sticker sheet and the sentiment is from an older Close To My Heart stamp set - S1901 - Card Captions, and I stamped it in sapphire ink from CTMH. I popped the sentiment up on foam tape to give a little interest to the card.

I truly meant to emboss the white portion of my background but got too busy sticking things down before I remembered to run it through my Cuttlebug!

Be sure to stop by Sketch N Scrap to see more inspiration using our August sketches. The deadline to enter our August challenges is just a few days away, so get your projects linked up soon!

Sketch N Scrap November Pop-up Challenge #2

Hello again! I am back with my second post of the day! If you are looking for my Lasting Memories reveal, just scroll down.

Today I have posted the second pop-up challenge over in the Sketch N  Scrap Monthly Challenges Facebook group. This time around I have a card challenge for you. Here is the sketch that I have chosen - Sketch N Scrap card sketch #156 from October 20, 2019:

I still had the scraps from the layout I made for the first pop-up challenge out on my desk and since I need a birthday card later this month - I put those scraps to good use. Here is what I came up with:

This card is a bit busier than what I normally tend to make, but I really wanted to use that scrap of multi-colored scallop paper, and I like how it turned out. The little snail is from the 2x2 cut apart paper. I just used my metal dies to cut it into a circle. I added a bit of messy silver thread behind the circle for a little something extra. I finished it off with a few puffy dots:

Having everything I needed already on my desk made this card come together very quickly. I think it took me longer to get the messy thread just how I wanted than it did to actually put the card together!

Sketch N Scrap Card Sketch #192

Hello, everyone! Happy Tuesday to you! I hope you are having a good week so far. Yesterday was a beautiful day with temps in the upper 60's and lots of sunshine, and now today we're supposed to see snow and the temps falling into the 30's with wind chills in the 20's - what the heck is up with this weather?! We are set to break records if the forecast is right! I made sure to cover up our strawberry plants and my peony busy just in case.

It's time for the last sketch of the month at Sketch N Scrap today. This sketch is courtesy of Sketch Artist Heather and it is going into my favorites!

I was in need of a birthday card and I had these scraps in my April Counterfeit Kit from a layout that  I made earlier this month, and they made this card come together so quickly! All of the papers are from Simple Stories except the pink dot - it is from The Paper Studio. The sentiment is from an older Close To My Heart stamp set (S1802 - Sunny Thoughts). I fussy cut the three flowers from one of the papers for a little embellishment.

Before I go, I want to let  you all know that we will be celebrating Sketch N Scrap's 9th Birthday all month long in May. We will have challenges all throughout the month so be sure to join Sketch N Scrap's Monthly Challenges group on Facebook - you can find it here - Sketch N Scrap's Monthly Challenges | Facebook. We hope you will join us - there will be lots of prizes!

Sketch N Scrap Card Sketch #177

Hello, everyone! Happy Saturday to you all! It's the start of a long weekend here in the US and I am looking forward to it!

It's time for the first card sketch of the month at Sketch N Scrap today and Heather is getting us started with a great sketch:

This sketch has a lot of possibilities and here is what I came up with:

For my card, I have used an older birthday collection from Pebbles - Birthday Wishes. I just came across this paper pad in my stash and thought I would put it to use. It has so many great papers...I don't know why I haven't used more of it.

For the presents I used a metal die from Close To My Heart and for the sentiment I just typed it up on the computer and printed it out.

This card came together so quickly and I am sure I will be using this sketch again!

Head on over to Sketch N Scrap to see the sketch and the beautiful cards from the design team. I hope you have a chance to play along with us this month!

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #384

Hello, again! I am back to share one more post with you today.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge has a new card sketch posted this week and today I am sharing my take on it. Here's a look at the sketch:

I have created a birthday card using Fancy Pants' Cake Smash collection. My daughter will be celebrating her 30th birthday next week and I thought this cake was perfect as it has 30 candles on it! It was like it was meant to be!

The sentiment is from an older Close To My Heart stamp set (S1803 Birthday Time). It was a tight fit on the circle - you can barely see the dot on the exclamation point but anything bigger would have been too big, so we are going with it! I thought the puffy dots on the sentiment and the focal panel mirrored the confetti paper in the background.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #370

Hello, hello! Happy Tuesday! I hope you all had a good holiday weekend! I know we sure enjoyed the extra day!

Today I am sharing the card that I created for this week's sketch at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. Here's a look at the fun sketch that Michelle has created for us:

And here is the card that I created:

I loved that the sketch showed flowers for the embellishments but I wanted to do something a little different and create a birthday card and use party hats.

I used a Lori Whitlock (Sizzix) Framelits with stamps set for this card. I'm not certain of the name but I think it's Happy Birthday To You. To keep with the party theme I punched out several tiny stars and dots to scatter around the party hats.

A super quick and easy birthday card all ready to be sent out to someone soon!

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #368

Hello, hello! I am back with another quick post today.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge has a great card sketch this week! Whenever I see a card sketch with a big rectangle on it - this sketch - it always makes me want to look through my pocket cards or cut apart cards to make a quick and easy card. Here is a look at the sketch:

I knew I had a cut apart sheet from Echo Park's - It's Your Birthday collection -that had quite a few cut apart cards that would be perfect for a birthday card.

The card that I picked to use originally had a black and white diagonal stripe border around it, but due to some not so great cutting with my dull trimmer blade...I had to get rid of the whole striped border and mat my cut apart card on a piece of cardstock instead. It looks fine but I really wish I hadn't had to get rid of the striped border!

I added a double twine bow to the top of the cut apart card and an enamel heart sticker at the end of the sentiment.

Using the cut apart card made making this card really quick and easy.

Be sure to check out the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge blog tomorrow for the full design team reveal and last week's Top 3 picks. I hope you have some time to play along with us!

Sketch N Scrap Card Sketch #163

Hello, hello! Happy Wednesday! I hope you are having a good week. It's time for the first card sketch of the month at Sketch N Scrap today. Heather has created a super fun sketch for us to play with and I know it will be one that I go to again and again:

And this is the card that I created based on the sketch:

This card sketch has so many possibilities! I have ideas for just about every holiday and another idea using balloons in place of the party hats. It would also be super cute making it just like the sketch and using flowers. Yep, I will be using this sketch over and over!

I pulled these papers from my Close To My Heart scraps for this card. I thought the dotted paper looked like confetti and would be perfect for a birthday card. The party hat and sentiment stamp are from a stamp set from Lori Whitlock for Sizzix - Happy Birthday to You. This is one of my favorite birthday stamp sets.

Now, head on over to Sketch N Scrap to see how the rest of the design team used this sketch. I would love to see your take on the sketch, too.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #354

Hello, everyone! Good Tuesday evening to you all. I am so happy to share that I am back on the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge design team! I took the last term off because we had quite a bit going on around here but things have settled down now and when Michelle asked if any past members wanted to jump back in, I jumped at the chance.

Here's a look at this week's sketch:

When I first saw this sketch, I thought it looked like a gift all wrapped up and ready to give to someone special, and since we have a few birthdays coming up, I decided to make a birthday card:

I found some paper scraps in my scrap box that coordinated and this card came together so quickly! I used the "Happy Birthday to You" stamp set by Lori Whitlock from Sizzix for my party hat and sentiment. I originally had planned to add the sentiment to a tag and have it hanging down from the party hat, but there just wasn't room for one the in the size that I needed. I'm happy with how this turned out anyway.

Be sure to stop by Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge tomorrow to see the beautiful cards from the rest of the design team and last week's Top 3. I hope to see you playing along with us this week, too!

Sketch N Scrap Card Sketch #147

Hello, everyone! Happy Wednesday! I hope you are having a good week. Today is the day that my oldest son is leaving the nest and moving into his first apartment. He and his college roommates decided to get an apartment together and today is the day. They have known each other since kindergarten so I am pretty sure they won't have any trouble getting along! I am so excited for him - and for all of them - on this new chapter of their lives.

It's time for the first card sketch at Sketch  N Scrap today and Heather has created a great one for us to work with.

I stayed true to the sketch only changing the sentiment to the focal point and then adding a couple of banners in place of the sentiment on the sketch.

I pulled out an old My Mind's Eye 6x6 paper pad - Now & Then 'Mildred'. I have a few of these paper pads that are about half used that I need to get out work through. It wouldn't take much to get them all used.

The sentiment is from an older Close To My Heart stamp set - Joyful Birthday (B1419).

One of the things that bug me with collections like this one is that the background of some of the papers is not a true white or a true cream and when you try to match it up, well, it generally sticks out like a sore thumb! So to remedy that problem, I took some Bamboo ink from Close To My Heart and swiped the ink pad across a piece of white cardstock to get the color a little closer to the background and I liked it so much better!

It's hard to tell in the photo but I added foam tape to the back of the scalloped circle to add some dimension.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #502

Good Tuesday morning! I hope that your week is off to a good start.

It is time for a new sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches. Debbie has created a great sketch for us to work with this week:

I've been trying to work through my scraps box to get some of them used up and when I came across the grey/green/white dot paper, I thought I would go with a bit of a masculine feel for my card.

I stamped the party hats on a scrap of green paper and die cut them for the trio of embellishments shown on the sketch. I added the sentiment in place of the twine. This card came together so quickly!

Head on over to Tuesday Morning Sketches to see the beautiful cards from the design team. I hope you find some time to create with us this week!

Use Your Stuff #357- Tags Or Frames

Hello, hello! Good Monday morning to you! It is the start of a brand new week - are you ready for it?

We have a new challenge posted at Use Your Stuff today. This week we are challenging you to use tags or frames on your projects. I have used two tags on a birthday card:

I found a few scraps of pink paper in my scrap box and decided to create a girly birthday card. I embossed a piece of white cardstock with my swiss dot embossing folder and added some pink splatters with my Heidi Swapp color shine. I die cut the tags and stamped a balloon on each one. I added the sentiment to the banner piece in front.

I am also entering this card into Cathy's challenge at Sketch N Scrap's 7th Birthday Bingo Bash. Head on over and check out all the challenges going on this month. You can find it here.

Head on over to Use Your Stuff to see the wonderful projects from the design team using tags or frames. We would love it if you played along with us!

Sketch N Scrap Card Sketch #144

Hello, everyone! Good Saturday morning to you! I hope you all are enjoying this holiday weekend.

It's time for the last card sketch of the month at Sketch N Scrap today. Lisa has created a wonderful card sketch to finish out the month:

I was in need of a special birthday card this past week so I took a break from the thank you cards to get it made.

I used the Simple Stories - Posh - 6x6 paper pad for this card. It is one of my all-time favorite collections and perfect for a special card. All of the flowers are fussy cut from a couple of different papers in the collection. I popped one of the clusters up on foam tape for a little bit of dimension.

The sentiment is from an Art C stamp and die set.

I love how this card turned out and that is all thanks to a great sketch!

Now for some exciting news...

We are going to have a lot of exciting things happening next month when Sketch N Scrap turns 7 - and for National Scrapbook Day! Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #310

Good evening, everyone! I'm popping in tonight with another quick post.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge has a fun new sketch posted this week. There are so many ways that I can see using this sketch - it is definitely going in the "to be used again" pile!

Here is my take on the sketch:

I substituted the little sprigs coming out above and below the sentiment strip with banner pieces. The sentiment is from Gina K Stamps - More Massive Messages. I will be honest - I don't remember where I even got this stamp set...I'm pretty sure it was in a RAK a few years ago...whatever the case, I came across it when I was cleaning up my scrap room and couldn't believe I had never inked it up. I see more Gina K stamps in my future!

Be sure to stop by Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge tomorrow for the full design team reveal and last week's Top 3. I look forward to seeing your take on the sketch this week!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great night!

It's time for a new challenge at Scribbles Designs. Challenge #75 is - Yum! Yum! For the Foodie In You! - create a project that prominently features any kind of food.

Here is what I came up with:

I have used - #966 CP Layer Cake 2 for a birthday card. I colored the image with colored pencils and added a sentiment from a Jillibean Soup stamp set.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #492

Hello, hello! Happy Tuesday to you! We are enjoying a couple of days of springlike weather around here. We heard the peepers Saturday night so spring is right around the corner, right?! I am currently ignoring the fact that there we have freezing rain and much colder temps in the forecast for later this week!

It's time for Tuesday Morning Sketches new challenge. This week we are revisiting Patti's favorite sketch of 2018. Here's the sketch:

And here is what I came up with:

I created a birthday card using Echo Park's - Anything Goes - 6x6 paper pad and stamps from Close To My Heart - B1417 (the sentiment and the hooray image) and The Ink Road Stamps - Zinia (squiggly lines). I thought the squiggly lines looked like party streamers.

Head on over to Tuesday Morning Sketches to see the beautiful cards from the rest of the design team. I hope you have a chance to play along with us!

Tuesday Morning Sketches #491

Hello, everyone! Good Tuesday morning to you!

It's time for a new challenge at Tuesday Morning Sketches. This week we are using Melissa's favorite sketch of 2018:

I have created a birthday card - switching out the flowers for some party hats!

For this card, I have used papers from Dear Lizzy's - Stay Colorful - 6x6 paper pad. The sentiment is from Close To My Heart (B1419 - Joyful Birthday) and the party hats are from a Sizzix Framelits with Stamps set - Celebrate. I picked a couple of Close To My Heart inks (Emerald and Raspberry) that matched the papers for the sentiment and hats. I also added 3 pink dots to the upper right corner. They weren't called for in the sketch, but I thought my card needed a little something else.

Head on over to Tuesday Morning Sketches to see the beautiful cards from the rest of the design team. I hope you find some time to play along with us. I would love to see your take on this sketch!

Scribbles Designs Challenge #73 - Birthday Time Again - Midway Post

Hello again! I am back with my third post for the day. If you are looking for my Sketch N Scrap reveal, or for my Let's Get Sketchy reveal, please scroll on down.

It's time for the midway inspiration post at Scribbles Designs today.

In honor of Scribbles Designs 6th birthday - Challenge #73 is "Birthday Time Again" - show use those birthday themed projects!

Along with our regular prizes, we've got a couple of extra prizes planned for our 6th birthday event, so we hope that you'll join us over on the challenge blog! You can find links to all their personal blogs by visiting today's post on the challenge blog.

Here's a look at what I've created:

I used the cute -  #732 Willy Woolley  sheep image for my card and the sentiment is  #0157 CP HBDay. I used Illustrated Faith's - You Are Loved - papers - since they were out on my desk. All of the papers had already been cut into, so I was able to use up the scraps for this card.

For cute little Willy Woolley I used my Wink of Stella pen to add a touch of sparkle. I think my niece, who has a birthday coming up, will think he's pretty cute, too.

Be sure to stop by Scribbles Designs to read all the rules and to learn more about the prizes. We hope you find some time to play along with us!

Tuesday Morning Sketches #488

Hello, hello!  Good Tuesday morning to you! If you are being affected by the COLD weather - be careful out there and keep warm! I know here in the middle of the US we don't see temperatures - and wind chills - this cold very often. I hope the weatherman is right and we are back to the 40's and 50's by the end of the week!

This week at Tuesday Morning Sketches we are using Jenee's Favorite sketch from 2018 - #453. It is a beautiful sketch!

I was in need of a birthday card so that is what I created using this sketch.

I made the banner piece a tad bit smaller than what was shown on the sketch because I wanted more of the number background paper to show, and I omitted the oval shape and added a big sentiment in its place. I die cut and punched a few stars - since the card was for my oldest son - to cluster at top of the banner piece.

I used an older Echo Park 6x6 paper pad - For The Record 2 - for this card and the sentiment die is from Close To My Heart.

Head on over to Tuesday Morning Sketches to see the beautiful cards from the rest of the design team and we would love it if you played along, too!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today! Have a great day!
