LM #565 - Floral Patterned Paper

Hello, hello! Happy Sunday to you! I am so happy that you have stopped by today. I hope that you are having a good weekend. We have had a good weekend. We celebrated Abby and Shawn's birthdays on Friday, had a very lazy Saturday, and today we are ready for some football!

Today I am playing along with this week's challenge at Lasting Memories - which is to use a floral patterned paper on your layout. I am still working on Ada's school traveler's notebook and decided to create a layout for this challenge. It's not one of my favorites but it is done. Here is what I came up with:

I don't tend to scrap directly in my traveler's notebooks - I generally make the layout outside of the notebook and then add it in. I'm wanting to keep this notebook from getting too chunky so I thought it was a good idea...Yeah, I am rethinking that now! I find it funny that when I scrap a traditional 12x12 layout, I almost always start with white cardstock, but when I work in my traveler's notebooks - I struggle with a blank/white background.

Anyway, this is Ada's kindergarten photo. As you can tell by the look on her face - school was not her favorite thing that first year! There's a little bit of a smile there, but not much of one! Thankfully, she has grown to really like school since then.

I used some scraps from Cocoa Vanilla's Happiness collection. I did add a strip of floral paper to satisfy the challenge, although most of it got covered up. I thought that, since my background was a little plain, I would add a few stamped flowers around my spread. I kind of wished I would have looked for a little smaller flower stamp but it is done now.

Here are a few close-ups:

I stamped all of the small flowers directly in the notebook and one of the big flowers. The others I stamped on a piece of paper and fussy cut them out. There was too much lump and bump from the previous page to get a good image.

As I said before, it's not my favorite layout but it is done and I'm happy enough with it that I won't be re-doing it anytime soon.

Be sure to stop by the Lasting Memories blog to see the beautiful creations from the rest of the design team.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today! I will be back a little later with another project to share with you.
