LM #564 - Patterned Paper Play - Plaids/Ginghams/Checks

Hello, hello! Happy Sunday to you! I hope that you are having a good weekend.

Today I am playing along with the latest challenge at Lasting Memories #564. Our theme for September is "Patterned Paper Play" and each week we give you a pattern that you must use on your layout. This week's challenge is to use plaid, gingham, or checked patterned paper on your layout. I used a piece of yellow gingham paper on my layout:

I am finally back to playing in my traveler's notebooks. I have really missed creating in this size and I have so many different notebooks going on at once - I really need to work on them more!

For this layout, I have used more scraps from my August kit for Lisa & Lori's Great Stash Bash. I had posted earlier this week an update post on what was left from that kit and before I put what was left back in my stash, I made this layout. Everything on this layout was in my kit except the red alphas.

These photos are of Ada with her new puppy, Winnie. She is quite smitten with her new little friend and we are happy that they bring Winnie over to visit with Nana and Pops, too!

Here are a couple of close-ups:

I love the little flower stickers that are on the Fern & Willard sticker sheet. They were the perfect little embellishment for this layout. The phrase sticker could not be more true and is from one of the Bella Blvd sticker sheets that I had included in my kit.

It's hard to read the word sticker above because it is a really light pink, but it simply says 'adorable', The scalloped border die that I used on the bottom of the yellow gingham paper is my new favorite find. I have always loved the wonky scalloped border stickers that are sometimes included on sticker sheets. I have been on the lookout for one and when I found this one it was the closest to what I wanted - and I got six other border dies in the package, as well. They are Avery Elle's Elle-ments Dies - Slimline Borders. I have a feeling I will be using all of these dies quite often!

Be sure to check out the Lasting Memories blog to see the beautiful layouts from the rest of the design team. I hope you have a chance to play along with us - I would love to see your take on the challenge.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today! I hope you have a wonderful day!

Sketch N Scrap Card Sketch #200

Hello, hello! Happy Sunday to you! I do hope that you're having a good weekend. We have had a quiet one - which has been nice after a very busy week.

Today I am sharing the card that I created using Sketch #200 from Sketch N Scrap. This fun card sketch is courtesy of Sketch Artist Stacy:

This is what I came up with:

I am still using my August stash bash kit in hopes of getting it (almost) completely used up.

The papers that I chose are pretty busy and the sentiment seemed to get lost, so I decided to leave the sentiment off of the front of the card and add it to the inside. I stamped a flower from Close To My Heart's Simple Florals (Z3724) stamp set to add as an embellishment. It was the closest flower to the ones in the patterned paper that I could find in my stash. I think it looks pretty cute!

My daughter will be starting her 9th year as a special education teacher tomorrow, and as if teaching 15 kids all on different grade levels - all with different needs - and all of the paperwork that has to be done in the special education department, this year she is also co-teaching with a 5th-grade teacher in the afternoons. I wanted to send her a card letting her know that I know that she can do it all!

Here's a look at the inside of the card:

I always forget how much I like it when I add a strip of patterned paper to the inside of a card. It just adds a little extra something!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today! I hope that you have a great day!

Hello, Winnie - Sketch N Scrap #231

Hello and Happy Wednesday! I hope you are having a good week so far. We had a spur-of-the-moment sleepover with Ada last night - which is always fun! We had to sneak one more in before she starts back to school next week.

Today I am sharing the layout that I created using the August 15th sketch from Sketch N Scrap. Stacy has created such a fun sketch for us to use and it is one that I am sure I will use again. Here's a look at the sketch:

This is what I came up with:

I was going through my recent photos, making a list of all of the layouts that I would like to make, and came across these photos of Ada on the day that they got little Winnie. I wanted to use both of the photos of Winnie and there was a lot of "space" in the photos so I cut them both down to a 2x2 square and added both in place of the one smaller photo on the sketch.

I used more of my August stash bash kit - only adding in a piece of light blue paper and a few stickers. I am so happy with how much of my kit I have used this month! I think I only have two full sheets left and some scraps. There's still a little time and I am hoping to get one more layout made with it before the end of the month.

Here are a couple of close-ups:

I used a bit of a larger tag in the upper right corner so I could have a place to add a bit of journaling.

I added a bit of foam tape to the "hello" die-cut before I added it to my layout. I added the sticker under Winnie's name as a sort of shelf for it to rest on and as a little subtitle.

These stickers really say it all - Ada was so happy to be getting a puppy and it was love at first sight! They have been inseparable all summer long, so I am sure that Winnie will miss her during the day when Ada goes to school next week.

Be sure to stop by the Sketch N Scrap blog for more inspiration for this sketch.
