Summer Vibes - Sketch N Scrap's May Challenge #1

Hello, hello! Happy Thursday to you! I hope that you are having a good day.

If you haven't heard - Sketch N Scrap is turning 12 this month and we are celebrating all month long. Every Tuesday and Thursday of the month, the design team will be providing a challenge for you to try over in our private Facebook group, and today is the first one! I was tasked with the first challenge. My challenge to you is to use the following sketch to create your layout - AND - you must add at least one heart to your layout. Here is the sketch that I chose:

This sketch is from May 2018 and it is one of my favorites! Here is my layout:

For this layout, I have used photos of Miss Ada when they went to Florida a couple of years ago and my Lisa & Lori's Great Stash Bash kit for May. The colors in my kit were a good match to the colors in Ada's swimsuit. I didn't have any beachy-themed items in my kit, but I didn't worry about that and I just used what I did have in my kit that would work. These pictures will be documented elsewhere and I can use all the beach things then.

Here are a couple of close-ups:

I am so glad that our focus item this month for Lisa & Lori's Great Stash Bash was flowers, and I am so glad that I found these paper flowers from Close To My Heart in my stash. I probably would have never thought to use flowers on this layout otherwise. I thought the yellow flowers were giving out a sunshine vibe.

My challenge was to use at least one heart on your layout and I added a few stamped hearts around my layout. The heart stamp is from the Simple Stories Life Captured stamp set. It's always scary to stamp directly on your layout, and I did have a little oopsie, but I just added a couple more flowers to cover it up!

For part of my title, I used the alpha stickers that I had in my kit. I wanted to use different font styles for the two words so I dug in my stash and found the perfect smaller black alphas. It always feels good to show some of those older supplies some love.

Head on over to the Sketch N Scrap Monthly Challenges group on Facebook to check out all of the fun that is going on this month.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today! Have a great day!

Sweet Little Moment - Sketch N Scrap February Crop Challenge #3

Hello, everyone! Happy Super Bowl Sunday to you! Will you be watching the big game or will you be scrapping the night away? I know we will have it on and we will be rooting for the Bengals - even though they beat out our Raiders in the first playoff game - but really we won't care either way. We just want it to be a good game. And if it's not - you can bet I will be working on a layout or card!

Today I am sharing a layout that I created for Challenge #3 over in Sketch N Scrap's Monthly Challenges Facebook group.  I chose Sketch N Scrap's Sketch #152 from May 1, 2018:

And this is what I came up with:

I used papers and embellishments from my February Stash Bash kit on this layout. All of the papers are from Echo Park's Hello Baby (boy) collection - except the orange - which is an old My Mind's Eye paper.

I only had this one sweet photo of my boys -  from 20 years ago - to use on this layout. I can't remember if this was the day we finally got to bring Shane home after spending 16 days in the NICU, or if it was a few days later. It couldn't have been too long after as I see the cords from his heart monitor in the photo.

This photo just melts my heart every time that I look at it! Matthew is loving on his little brother and I can just imagine him letting Shane know that everything's going to be okay - that he is there to watch out for him!

Here are a couple of close-ups:

I tried really hard to use those big rosette embellishments that I had included in my kit but they just turned out to be way too big and way too bulky for my liking, so I made my own version with my circle punches and pinked circle dies. I love how they turned out and with making my own version, I could make them as big or as small as I wanted. I finished off this cluster with a few stickers from the sticker sheet.

For the title, I used the mirrored word "Sweet" from Pink Paislee. I almost didn't use it - the "W" looks a little foggy about halfway down. I tried to get the plastic off it but it was like it had melted onto the letter. I decided to just go ahead and go with it.

I am so glad that I finally got this photo scrapped!

Such a Cutie - Sketch N Scrap #152

Hello and Happy May 1st! Finally, the weather is starting warm up and we are having more sunny days than cloudy this week. Spring may finally be here! It has been so nice to have all of the windows open in the house.

Sketch N Scrap has their first layout sketch of the month posted today and I love it! Lisa has created a super fun sketch for us to work with and I know I will be using it again!

I changed things up a bit with this sketch - first I flipped it to work with my photo, and then I only used one 6x4 photo instead of the two 3x4's.

I love this photo of Matthew -when he was so little - sitting in his sister's inflatable purple chair. He was (and of course still is!) such a cutie!

You can't tell it very well in this photo, but he has on a blue jacket with red writing - and along with the purple chair, that decided my color combo. I couldn't wait to use the Elle's Studio "Noteworthy" papers and I think I even used a piece or two from their "Family Fun" collection.

Be sure to stop by Sketch N Scrap to see the fun layouts from the rest of the design team. Don't forget - we have lots of fun things planned this month (you can read all about them here) and we would love it if you played along with us this month!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today. I will be back soon with another project to share with you!
