The ScrapRoom September Shots of Life Kit - Week 32/2021

Hello, everyone! Happy Monday to you! I hope that your week is off to a great start. We had a nice quiet weekend at home - which meant lots of scrappy and stitchy time for me!

Today I am sharing the layout that I created using the September portion of the Shot of Life Kit from The ScrapRoom. Here is a look at the kit:

This is what I came up with:

For my layout, I used the Bella Blvd - You Are My Sunshine - cut apart cards and epoxy stickers that were included in the kit. The fun - bright colors in those cards were perfect to document another week of summer fun. I dove into my Bella Blvd scraps bin to add a bit more color to my layout.

Here's a closer look at each side of the layout:

I kept my title card pretty simple for this week. I used one of the 4x6 cut apart cards and fussy cut the sun from one of the 2x2 cards. I cut a ticket shape out of the backside of the Lemon Twist cut apart paper and added my week title to it. I then just stamped my dates directly on the card.

This was a pretty busy week for us. Ada stayed with us Monday-Wednesday since Abby had some training out of town those days. On Monday, we passed the time until Pops got home from work playing Uno and video games. She is very good at both! She beat me the best out of five games of Uno and was deemed the champ! She also beat her best time on one of the speed runs in Astro's Playroom on the PS5. She was pretty excited to do that, too.

We went for a walk on Monday evening and had the most beautiful view. The journaling on that photo says  - Today (8/9) would have been Kim's 59th birthday and Mom would've been 80 on Thursday (8/12) I should've known they would give me a beautiful sunset to enjoy! I added a couple of stamped word phrases and enamel hearts to finish off that photo.

The bottom photo is showing just how tall our sunflowers grew this year. Ada was standing on top of  Scott's shoulders - and they were on a little bit higher ground than the sunflower - and it was still taller than both of them together! I think we tried to measure it and it was close to 10 feet tall! The "Have a sunny day" was punched from one of the 2x2 cards.

Ada had her first stargazing experience while she stayed with us - thanks to the Perseid meteor shower. She was lucky enough to see one pretty soon after we went out. I discovered it is almost impossible to take a selfie in the dark! It took a couple of tries but I did manage to get us all in the photo!

Here is a look at the right side of the spread:

The top photo is of Ada with her Wendy's kids meal toys. This girl can have fun with just about anything! We'd told her before she came over that Pops would bring home supper one night after work. She chose Wendys and she brought two of the cars she's gotten in previous kid's meals to play with - and she was hoping she would add a new one to her collection. She got the unicorn car - which made her happy as can be. For the embellishment on that photo, I used a stamp that said - the simple joys of life - and added one of the epoxy flowers to it.

I really liked the multi-colored hearts card from the cut apart sheet. I added one of the 2x2 squares to it with a polaroid style frame around it and added a few more enamel hearts to finish it off.

The next photo is of Ada and Aunt Amy - her birthday buddy. Aunt Amy came over for a visit one of the days she was over and she brought her a few fun goodies, too. Ada played with them the rest of the afternoon.

Ada and I always try to take a "sleepover selfie" when she spends the night and she was a good sport - posing for a photo by our flowers.

Ada could not wait until Pops would get home so they could go out to the pool. It's crazy the things these two think up to do in the pool! The crazier the idea is - the better it is! I added a chipboard sticker from my stash and a couple of stamped phrases to this photo.

Once again I added a sort of - week in review - journaling card. I used a 4x6 index card - just cutting it down a bit so it could be matted on a piece of patterned paper. I stamped the words 'This week' and added a few more epoxy flowers to it. I had one little green epoxy heart left and turned it sideways so it looked like a flower leaf.

I have just a couple more photos from this week that I would like to have added...I may add an insert - like maybe a 6x8 page protector size for those last few photos and stories.

The only things I used on this layout from my stash are - white cardstock, stamps, chipboard stickers, small enamel hearts, and some patterned paper scraps.

It feels great to get another week documented!

Week 33/2018 - The ScrapRoom May Shots of Life Kit

Hello, hello! Happy Tuesday to you! I hope your week is off to a good start!

Today I am sharing the layout that I created using the May portion of the Shots of Life Kit from The ScrapRoom. I just checked and it looks like there are still a few of the May/June Shots of Life kits still available. Here's a look at the kit:

For my layout today, I have used the cut apart cards from Amy Tangerine's Brave &
Bold collection, a couple of cards from PhotoPlay's Crafting With My Gnomies, and bits and pieces of the Maggie Holmes Garden Party paper to document Week 33 of 2018. That's right, we are going back a few years for this one!

Here's a look at the layout:

Here is the left side of the layout:

This week Abby headed back to work for the new school year and that meant Ada was back with me during the day. Ada wasn't quite sure she was ready to be back into the old routine of getting up so early to come to Nana's house, but it didn't take her long to get back into the swing of things! Here are a few close-ups:

For my title card, I used the 'B' side of the cut apart paper to bring a little more of the blue into my spread. I added a 'hello' sticker from the sticker sheet and one of those pretty resin glitter hearts that was included in the kit.

Since all of the cut apart cards on the Amy Tangerine sheet are 3x3's, I had to get creative in making them work for me on my spread. On the above light pink card, I added it to the top of a 3x4 card that I cut out of white cardstock. I then added another one of the gold glitter resin hearts to it.
The photo to the left of this card is Ada on one of the little rides at Wal-Mart - her reward for being so good while we shopped for groceries.

The two cards that I used from PhotoPlay's cut apart paper are shown above. The bright colors in this collection work so well with the colors in the Amy Tangerine collection. I also punched a circle out of the Maggie Holmes paper for my cluster base above.

The last card on this page is of Matthew hanging out before he headed back to MSU for his junior year of college. I carefully planned out which 3x3 cut aparts I wanted to use for cards or embellishments and the rest I was able to cut into 3x4's and use the 'B' side for more pops of blue.

Here is the right side of the layout:

These photos are all about Matthew's move-in day at MSU. He's a minimalist when it comes to moving, that is for sure! As long as he had his tv, Playstation 4, and some clothes and food, he was good! His reasoning is that we're not even an hour away and he'll be coming home every other weekend so he can get whatever he needs then! Scott got Matthew up there and moved in early and he said it was the easiest move-in yet! Then he had to drive the hour-plus home and on into Lebanon to pick up his new glasses. He had quite a busy day!

Ada was a little sad to see Pops taking Uncle Matt back to college, so we played some My Little Pony to get her mind off it! She is so cute in her mask!

It's hard to see but I added another one of the gold glitter resin hearts to the 'smile' card.

For this photo, I cut down one of the Maggie Holmes cut apart cards for my journaling and added a few stickers to it. Scott and I found a bunch of broken eggs in our field right along our walking path. We weren't sure what kind they were, we thought maybe some turtle eggs, but after a little investigating we found out they were snake eggs! Yuck, yuck, yuck! If we'd known that we sure wouldn't have been poking around them so much! They still gross me out just thinking about it!

For this last card, I fussy cut one of the 3x3 cards for an embellishment and added a couple of stickers to finish off the little cluster.

I am so happy to have another spread in my 2018 album done! This album is slowly getting filled up!

The Scrap Room April Shots of Life Kit - Week 20/2020

Hello again! I am back with my second post of the day. If you are looking for my Sketch N Scrap reveal, please scroll down.

Today I am up on The ScrapRoom blog with the layout that I created using the April portion of the Shots of Life kit. Here is a look at the Shots of Life Kit - which I believe is still available at The ScrapRoom:

For my layout today, I have use the cut apart paper from the PinkFresh 'Keeping it Real' collection to document Week 20 of 2020. It is perfect to document any of the happenings of last year - or even just documenting about a bad day.

Here is the left side of the spread:

Week 20 was Abby and Ada's last week of school and it looked a lot different last year thanks to the pandemic. We were a few weeks in with Scott being off of work and at home with us. We were settling in to staying home all the time. Really this wasn't too big of a change for us,  we do not just go - go - go all the time anyway, but having Scott home during the week was different and it took Shane a little time to get used to the routine being changed.

Here are a few close-ups of the page:

I thought the card that said "one day at a time" was perfect for my title card this week. So much was unknown and we were staying home and staying safe. I die cut the sentiment into a circle and I added the day by day puffy sticker to it and added it to a piece of grey patterned paper that I had in my scrap bin.

Abby took a photo of Ada on her last day of  kindergarten. It makes me a little sad that Ada missed out on so many of the fun things that kindergarteners do. Abby also needed to go to the school to make sure her classroom was in order before the summer break, so I met them at the school to pick up Ada and take her to our house while Abby worked. It was kind of eerie pulling into the school parking lot on the last day of school and there wasn't a soul around. No buses, no excited kiddos, just emptiness.

I wanted to add a little color so I die cut another circle out of a scrap of pink paper and then layered a couple of stamped labels on top of it for my journaling and added another puffy sticker.

While we were waiting for Abby to come pick up Ada, we went for a walk down the road. I had just gotten a new phone and was wanting to see how the camera was on it so I snapped a photo of Ada on Pops' shoulders.

The bottom photo is of Shane with his new Signing Time video. He had been asking for a specific one - number 10, I think - and we finally found it! He was so happy and went right to watching it - on his tiny dvd player for some reason - and signing right along with it. He used to watch these videos at school and picked up a lot of the signs for different things and is happy to show us what the sign is for certain words - mainly food words!

The multi-colored heart paper was one of the 2 inch squares on the cut apart sheet. I die cut it into a heart and added it to a circle. I kind of wish I had off set the heart on the circle, but it is done now.

Ada was happy to be able to spend some extra time playing with Pepe! I added another label and puffy sticker to this photo.

Here's a look at the right side of the spread:

I created a journaling card that touched on the "highlights" of the week. I divided each different topic with tiny hearts that I punched from the different papers I used on the spread and finished it off with another puffy sticker.

The top journaling card talks about how with all of his extra time off - Scott has been looking for old Johnny West toys to collect. They were his favorites as a kid and he has a lot of fun looking for them and reminiscing about the ones he had.

I stamped the word "currently" at the top of the journaling card and the added the cut apart that said - "look at the bright side." If we're going to be stuck at home we might as well be looking for things to brighten our day!

I had given Ada some money specifically for the ice cream truck. Something for her to look forward to on those long summer days. Abby said the first time she heard the ice cream truck coming down the street she went running out to wait for it to get to their house. It was right before lunch so she had to take it in and put it in the freezer until after she ate her lunch.

I added another die cut circle with the ice cream puffy sticker added to it to finish off the card.

The photo of Ada above is her painting my fingernails. She decided to turn my scrap room into her spa and she did my nails and gave me a massage. She's pretty darn good at taking care of her Nana!

The photo of  Shane shows just how happy his signing time video made him! He was happy to give me a genuine smile and he kept that smile on his face all day long!

I fussy cut the 'enjoy' banner piece out of the cut apart card sheet and added it to the top of the card. I also added another puffy sticker to his photo.

I snapped this photo of the sunset one evening. Some days the weight of the unknown was almost unbearable. There was something about this sunset that brought me comfort. Pictures never do justice to sunrise/sunset photos, but I needed the reminder that the world was still turning and things will get better. I think I need to add that little bit of journaling to this photo!

Week 50/2019 - The ScrapRoom December Shots of Life Kit

Hello again! I am back with my second post of the day. If you are looking for my Scrap Our Stash reveal, please scroll down.

Today I am up on The ScrapRoom blog sharing the layout that I created using the December portion of the Shots of Life Kit. Here's a look at the November/December Shots of Life Kit - and it is still available:

The December portion consisted of all Christmas cut apart cards - which helped me get Week 50 of 2019 documented in my Project Life album. Here's a look at my spread:

This week was filled with lots of holiday happenings. Let's take a closer look at each page:

Here is a close-up of my title card:

I used one of the cut apart cards from the Fancy Pants Wishmas paper. It had such a cute scene on it already, all I needed to do was put the week, date, and a little cluster on it. The only thing on this card that wasn't in my kit is the enamel heart sticker.

I love how the cards from the Fancy Pants and Pink Fresh Studios sheets worked so well together. These photos are of Ada's Christmas artwork that she made at school and a pretty sunrise.

This week I took Shane to get a haircut and we did a little shopping afterward. Shane also wanted me to play Mario Party - and then he left the room! I did catch him watching me from the kitchen though. I did end up winning the game!:)

Here is the right-hand side of the spread:

I had an extra photo that I wanted to share so I added a pocket flip to that pocket. You can see it opened up in the photo below:

This side of the layout is all about a shopping trip, homemade ornaments from Ada and Abby, and some scrappy goodies I received in a Secret Santa swap. Here are a few close-ups of the right side of my spread:

The first photo is of Abby and Ada on our shopping trip. We were waiting for our food and they just looked super cute in their Christmas sweaters. The other photo is of the ornaments that they made and is also where the flip pocket is.

On our way home we stopped off at Walmart to get something to make for supper and Ada had to take a turn on the little merry-go-round. My how things have changed since this time last year! Now all of the little rides are roped off and you can't even get to them - not that we would let her ride them anyway - but still!

When we go shopping we always have to take a selfie of ourselves in the car. The "holiday tradition" die-cut was perfect for this photo. I also used a ticket sticker from the Simple Stories sticker sheet, a stamped circle label, and I added an enamel dot and heart to finish off the cluster.

The Fa La La card is from the Fancy Pants sheet and the Christmas lights journaling card is from Pink Fresh, but they look like they could have come from the same sheet.

It feels good to have another layout done in my 2019 album!

Week 36/2019 - The ScrapRoom Shots of Life Kit

Hello again! I am back with my second post of the day. If you are looking for my Scrap Our Stash reveal, please scroll on down.

Today I am sharing my Week 36/2019 spread using the September portion of the Shots of Life kit from The ScrapRoom. I know I always say this - but the September/October Shots of Life kit has so many great pieces in it and I know I will be putting them to use soon!

Here's a look at the Shots of Life Kit:

For my layout today I have used the Amy Tangerine Late Afternoon cut apart cards and heart stickers, and Elle's Studio labels and acrylic stars from the kit.

Here is the left side of the spread:

This side of the layout is just random little bits from the week - a selfie of me and Shane before we went shopping, crafty goodies, a selfie of Matthew with his name tag for the 2019/2020 year, Shane's current obsession, and Ada on her very first early out day ever! I had more pictures that I wanted to use to tell a couple of stories so on this side I have used two flip-flap pockets - which you will see better in the close-ups below:

For my title card, I used the backside of the cut apart paper. I fussy cut the flowers from another one of the cut apart cards and used some old Amy Tangerine alphas that I had in my stash. The colors matched perfectly. I also added a couple of word phrase stickers.

This shows the traveler's notebooks that I received from Felicity Jane and Shane's latest obsession - these white tile letters. In these photos, he has three containers...I won't even say how many he has now that it's been a year later! I'm sure you'll be seeing updates along the way! This is where I used one of my flip-flaps - I had too much journaling that I wanted to add!

These next photos show Matthew's selfie and the journaling card with the story behind it - and more crafty goodies:

I journaled directly on this photo of the enormous box that I got from Michaels with two rolls of cross stitch fabric at the bottom. Surely they could have found a better box. This is where the second flip-flap came in:

When you flip it up you see the box filled with air packs and then the photo with the fabric.

The last set of photos is of Ada's very first early out day. They get out at 12:45 the first Wednesday of every month and this was her first!

The right side of the spread is all about Grandparent's Day at school. With Shane it is hard for both Scott and me to attend certain functions - especially school functions, so we asked Ada which one of us she would rather have come to her program and, of course, she picked Pops! Scott was very good and took a ton of photos for me!

Here are a few close-ups of Ada and Pops at Grandparent's Day:

And the last pocket on the spread:

When Abby and Ada went shopping on Saturday they picked up the rest of Ada's Halloween costume. When they got home they tried it all on and Abby was kind enough to send me these photos. They are all ready for Halloween!

Be sure to check out The ScrapRoom's blog for more inspiration every day of the week!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I will be right back with one more post to share!
