Constant Companion - Mixing the Kits with The ScrapRoom

Hello, hello! Happy Wednesday to all of you! I hope you're having a good day.

Today I am sharing the layout that I created for the "Mixing the Kits" post for The ScrapRoom blog. Here is a look at the kits that I used for my layout - the Shots of Life kit, Patterned Paper Kit, and the Embellishment Kit:

I really liked this month's sketch, so I based my layout on it. Here's a look at the sketch:

And this is what I came up with:

I absolutely love this line from Jen Hadfield! The patterns and the colors in this collection are what I gravitate to so I was thrilled to see it in my kit this month.

For my layout, I used the "B" side to Jen Hadfield's Reaching Out cut apart sheet and the washi tape from the Shots of Life kit, both of the Jen Hadfield papers in the Patterned Paper Kit, and the floral heart and "love" foam stickers from the Embellishment Kit.

The first photo of Ada was taken when she was almost 5 months old and the second was just this past May - almost exactly 7 years later. Her "constant companion" is this little stuffed elephant - he rarely leaves her side! The first photo is the day she got him and she just happened to bring it with her for a visit this summer and I snapped a few photos of her playing with him. Being a lover of stuffed animals growing up - it makes me happy that Ada is the same!

Here are a few close-ups:

I fussy cut the flowers from one of the patterned papers to make a little cluster by the title. I used a stamped label and enamel hearts from my stash to finish out the cluster. The alphas were also from my stash. I wanted the washi tape to not fade into the background, so I added it to a piece of white cardstock and then trimmed it out.

Since the floral heart and the love sticker were both on foam I had to trim a little off of the back of the l so they would both be the same height.

Out of all of the Jen Hadfield goodies that were included in the Shots of Life Kit, the Patterned Paper Kit, and the Embellishment Kit, I only have half a sheet of paper and a 2-inch strip of paper, the washi tape, and a few of the foam stickers left. That may be enough for a card or two, I just need to get them made!

BeYoutiful - Mixing up the Kits with The ScrapRoom

Hello, again! I am back with another project to share with you. Today I am sharing my layout for the Mixing up the Kits series at The ScrapRoom.

The ScrapRoom offers a great variety of kits each and every month. For April, I am using pieces of the Shots of Life Kit, the Patterned Paper Add-on kit, and the Embellishment kit. Here is a look at the kits:

For my layout, I have used the Simple Stories "I Am" papers from the Patterned Paper Add-on kit, one of the cut apart cards from the Shots of Life kit for my title piece and fussy cut flowers from a couple of the other cards, and stickers from the sticker sheet that comes in the Embellishment kit. The only thing I added from my stash was black cardstock, cream cardstock, a scrap of pink paper, and a scrap of green paper, and a few sequins.

I took this photo of Ada on Thanksgiving day last year before we headed to our big Thanksgiving lunch. You can't tell it too well in the photo but she had her hair in pigtails that day and just looked so cute!

Here are a couple of close-ups:

I just love this little swan sticker from the sticker sheet - it is so cute! I wasn't sure when else I would use it, so I made sure to add it to my layout.

These are the flowers that I fussy cut from one of the cut apart cards - another great way to add to the embellishments and to use up cards that might not get used otherwise.

Be sure to check out The ScrapRoom to see all of the kits that they offer - and other scrappy supplies, too, and head on over to The ScrapRoom Blog for inspiration from the design team all month long!

The ScrapRoom - Mixing up the Kits

Hello, hello!

Today I am on The ScrapRoom's blog sharing the layout that I created for the Mixing up the Kits segment. The ScrapRoom offers so many great add-on kits each month that coordinate with their main kits. The layout that I am sharing with you today features products from the Jan/Feb Shots of Life Kit, the patterned paper add-on kit, and the embellishment kit which you can see below:

Here is what I came up with:

The Echo Park - It's Your Birthday - papers and embellishments that are included in this month's kits were perfect for scrapping a few more photos of Ada's birthday this year. There was even a sticker on the sticker sheet that looked just like Ada's cake!

Making her cake was a group effort with her Mom, Dad, and even Ada getting in on the cake decorating action. Abby was getting stressed about getting cake crumbs in the icing, so Shawn took over and iced the cake for her. Then Abby took back over putting the decorations on and Ada helped with the flowers and the sprinkles - because no unicorn cake is complete without sprinkles! It turned out so cute and was so delicious, too!

Here are a couple of close-ups:

For my layout, I used the Patterned Paper Add-on Kit- EP Birthday Girl Words and Party Animals, Embellishment Add-on Kit - EP ephemera pack and Pink Paislee puffy heart sticker, Shots of Life Kit - EP sticker sheet. From my stash - white and pink cardstock, alphas.

Birthday Princess -The ScrapRoom - Mixing up the Kits

Hello again! I am back with my second post of the day. If you are looking for my Scrap Our Stash reveal, please scroll on down to the next post.

For my project, I have created a traditional 12x12 mixed with a pocket page layout of Ada's 5th birthday. This is a great way to include more photos of an event. Here's a look at both pages together:

I used the Pebbles Cake Day cut apart sheet and sticker sheet from the Shots of Life kit, the Pebbles Balloon Bouquet and Birth-Yay papers and the Simple Stories DIY Queen and 2x2 elements paper from the patterned paper add-on kit, and the Pebbles puffy dots and Simple Stories sticker sheet from the embellishment add-on kit on my layout.

The colors in the Pebbles collection and the Simple Stories collection were so similar that I paired them together for this spread. I did pull a couple of things from my stash - gold metallic paper, a star die, string, and gold spray.

Here's a look at the left-hand side of the spread:

The tags are just for show on this layout. All of my journaling will be hidden under one of the photos on the pocket page - more out of necessity than wanting to keep things hidden! I needed a way to add a couple more photos and have my journaling on there, so I created a flip-up for the bottom right-hand pocket. Here's a better look at the pocket page:

And a couple of close-ups:

I still haven't added my journaling to this spread yet. I have been going back and forth on what I want to include. This is a bittersweet memory for me, for sure. It was a day that I had looked forward to - celebrating Ada's 5th birthday with her and the rest of the family - but Shane was not in the celebrating mood. We ended up having to leave about 10 minutes after we got to the party because Shane had a major meltdown. It's hard sometimes being the mo
m of a special needs child and having to make the hard decision to leave an event for the safety of your child and everyone around you, and knowing that you will be missing out on a special occasion for another loved one. Thankfully, Abby and my sister took lots of photos for me and I was there in spirit! I think I will just keep the journaling on this layout all about Ada and her party and maybe just include the story of why weren't able to stay in my weekly Project Life album. What would you do?

Hello, everyone! Happy Hump Day!

Today I am on The ScrapRoom blog sharing the layout that I made for this month's 'Mixing Up The Kits' segment. The ScrapRoom offers so many great add-on kits each month that coordinate with their main kits.

Here is a look at the December Patterned Paper Add-on kit, the Embellishment kit, and the Shot of Life kit:

For my layout, I have used the Carta Bella paper from the Patterned Paper Add-on kit, a die cut and the twine from the Shots of Life kit, and the enamel dots from the embellishment kit. I did add white cardstock, navy cardstock, and a scrap of green plaid patterned paper:

The Carta Bella papers and embellishments were perfect for these photos of Abby, Shawn, and Ada, and my sister and niece all in their fun holiday attire.

Mixing Up The Kits With The ScrapRoom

Hello, hello! Happy Tuesday to you! Hubby had the day off yesterday and I am trying to get back into the routine of things today.

Today I am up on The ScrapRoom blog for the 'Mixing up the Kits' segment this month. The ScrapRoom offers a lot of great add-on kits each month that coordinate with their main kits.

Here is a look at the patterned paper add-on kit, the embellishment kit, and the shots of life kit:

Nov/Dec Shots of Life Kit

For today's layout, I have used bits and pieces from the patterned paper add-on kit, the embellishment add-on kit, and the Shots of Life Kit.

I loved the mix of papers that came in the patterned paper add-on kit. I could have easily used a piece of every single paper on my layout but I stuck with the Simple Stories and Fancy Pants papers - and I used a border strip from Carta Bella as my title. I used the Simple Stories Bits and Pieces, Fancy Pants Cork pieces, and the Carta Bella Chipboard stickers in each of my embellishment clusters. I added a sprinkling of enamel dots from my Shots of Life kit to finish it off.

This photo is from 2009...I think. It was one of the only times that all of the grandkids and great-grandkids (at least those that were born at the time!) were all together and we made sure to get a picture of them with my Mom and Dad - or Granny and LB as most of the grands called them.

Here are a few close-ups:

I love all of the die cuts from Simple Stories that I received in the embellishment add-on kit. Those pretty little flowers paired with the cork pieces and chipboard stickers made for some pretty embellishment clusters.

I love how this layout turned out - but then it's easy to make a great layout when you're working with great products!

Head on over to The ScrapRoom blog any day of the week to see what the rest of the design team is creating with this month's kits.
