Challenge YOUrself #81 - Thankful

Hello, everyone! Happy Monday to you! I hope you are lucky enough to have the holiday off today and if not, I hope your day goes quickly!

It's time for a new challenge at Challenge YOUrself today and this is one of my all-time favorite themes to scrap - "Thankful" - goodness knows I have so much to be thankful for!

I could make layouts for days with this theme but today I have gone with being thankful for my hubby:

These photos are from our very first selfie together - 7 years ago - almost to the day. I am so thankful that I have him by my side.  It's tough being the parents of a special needs child and sometimes it puts a lot of strain on a marriage. I know a lot of marriages that haven't lasted because of it, but somehow we keep muddling through. I mean, we've been married 30 years now and are at the point of saying the same things at the same time, doing the same actions at the same time...sometimes it's a little scary! Anyway, I am happy to have him by my side!

For this layout, I have used my September Great Stash Bash kit which was filled with Fancy Pants' - Family & Co - collection. The title is a mix of the chipboard alphas and some letters from an Echo Park metal die - my new favorite alpha right now! Everything that I used on this layout came from my kit - and I even managed to use some "round" items on here, as well!

Here are a couple of close-ups:

I backed this wood veneer with a piece of paper so the heart would stand out a little better.

It wasn't until after I had already taken the photos for this post that I realized that the wood veneer at the top of the photos had the word "captured" spelled wrong:

Doh! And it is glued down so there is no taking it off. Not a problem - I haven't decided if I want to do something to cover it up, like add a phrase sticker over the top of it, or just wait to see who notices it first!

Be sure to stop by the Challenge YOUrself blog to see how the rest of the design team took on this challenge. I would love to see your take on it, too!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today! I hope you have a fantastic day!

  2. Married 30 years - you must have gotten married as a baby since you don't look a day over 30!
