Tuesday Morning Sketches #485

Hello and Happy Tuesday! I hope your week is off to a good start. We are still enjoying some beautiful weather, although today is supposed to start a bit of a cool down.

We have the first challenge of the new year up at Tuesday Morning Sketches today. This is when we usually kick off the new year featuring our favorite sketches of 2018,  but today we are honoring a former design team member, Jessi Fogan, who passed away on December 27th, by featuring one of her last sketches. Please keep Jessi's family, she leaves her husband Rob and 2 sons Connor and Riley, in your thoughts and prayers.

Enjoy this sketch and go after it with reckless abandon!  Add buttons, do some crazy artsy stuff - do it like Jessi would have!

In keeping with one of my goals to work on using the scraps in my scrap box, I pulled these scraps from Glitz Designs and created a birthday card with them.

The green on the triangle paper is an ombre - like the solid - but the colors look a little off...they really do match!

I die cut a present from a Close To My Heart die in the same solid green paper - being sure to use from both the light end of the paper and the dark end to give a little contrast. The sentiment is also from Close To My Heart - S1803 Birthday Time. I punched out several stars to create my own background of sorts for the main block. I really didn't mean to add that many, I just got carried away dotting the glue around before I realized how many were on there!

Head on over to the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog to see the beautiful cards from the rest of the design team. We do hope you join us this week in honoring Jessi by playing along with us.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day!

  1. LOVE the green and that sketch! Can't wait to play with it.

  2. Wonderful mix of greens paper scraps, Lori and I love your penwork! Great take on the sketch too! :)

  3. I am a big fan of monochromatic and your card does it so well with the black anchor the panel and penwork on the papers. I like it alot!

  4. Great papers from your scraps! (Mine never seem to match this well!) Wonderful birthday card!

  5. Terrific card! The black card base really makes the green pop.

  6. What a fun non-gender-specific card - I love it!!

  7. Fabulous card Lori, I love the blend of colours and papers.

  8. This is wonderful! I would give it to a friend who's birthday is St. Patrick's day - it just feels that way with the bright green.

  9. What a beautiful card! Love all details.
Thank you for always encouragement for me.
