Hooray For You - Sketch N Scrap Card Sketch #137

Hello, hello! Happy Saturday to you! We have made it to the first weekend of the new year. We have been back into the old routine for a few days and it's been hard after a couple of weeks off!

Sketch N Scrap has the first card sketch of the year posted today. Heather is starting us off with a fabulous sketch to play with:
Here is what I came up with:

All of the papers on my card came from my scrap box. More on my scrap box and my plan to tackle it this year in a bit, but first, a bit about my card.

I found a few different scraps that worked well together to use on my card. I stamped the party hats using a stamp and die set from Sizzix in coordinating colors - Outdoor Denim and Cotton Candy - from Close To My Heart. I popped up the sentiment and the pink party hat for a little dimension.

This card came together very quickly and is ready to be sent out whenever I need it.

Now, about my scrap box...when we were doing our room rearrange, I finally let go of 4 boxes (of various sizes) of scraps. I never seemed to go to them when I needed a small piece of paper - and let's be real here - if you read my 2019 goals post you will agree that I really didn't need to hang onto 4 boxes of scraps. When I got rid of the 4 boxes I decided to keep one of the boxes that my kits from The Scrap Room came in to use as my scrap box. I had hoped to keep it manageable, and I do use my scraps out of it regularly, but I am not keeping up with them like I would like - the box is bursting at the seams!

So, my plan is to make an effort to use up these scraps over the next couple of months and then just go ahead and let them go! I will try to keep track of what I make, or how many projects that I use them on, and give an update at the end of February. I think I need to go through and separate them by color to make it a little easier and faster to find what I need! Wish me luck in using up some scraps!

If you've made it this far - thanks for hanging in there! Head on over to Sketch N Scrap to see the beautiful cards from the rest of the design team. I would love to see what you create with the sketch, so be sure to link up over on the blog.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a great day!

  1. AWESOME card!! Love those party hats, they are so fun!! I always love the color combos you pick! I hear ya on the scraps girl...mine is starting to get out of hand too, so far I haven't had to chunk any, but I have started letting go of the smaller pieces, I mean I was saving pieces that I would never use and it was a bit ridiculous! Good luck on paring them down, the only thing I learned from concentrating on mine last year is I used up a lot of them BUT sometimes for cards I never touched my stash so I was using scraps and not any of my 100 papers at times so it did affect how many of my 100 papers I used! But my scraps pile did go down a bunch. I worked out a new system that I will post on my blog soon and am hoping to "let go" of my unused scraps each quarter and move on. We shall see how it works out!
