So Beautiful - LM #463 - Recipe Challenge #2

Hello again! I am back with my second post of the day. If you are looking for my reveal for The Studio Challenges, please scroll on down.

Lasting Memories has the second challenge for September posted today. Our theme for the month is 'Recipes' and today's recipe is - 1 photo, 2 mats on your photo, and 3 or more fussy cut pieces and use those pieces to create a wreath around your photo.

Here is my layout:

Back last month I was going through some older photos and picking a few to try to get scrapped this year and I just kept going back to this one of my mom. Friday it will be 6 years since she has been gone and it's crazy how much I still miss her! This photo was taken at Thanksgiving - one of the last - if not the last one - that she felt good enough to cook the majority of the meal. I'm not sure of the year, maybe 2010, I'll have to double-check with my sister, but you can just the joy on her face. She loved cooking for the whole family and all of us being together. 

I used Paige Evan's "Fancy-Free" from Pink Paislee for this layout. I fussy cut all of the flowers and leaves from one of the papers to create my wreath around my photo. I drew a circle to help me keep the shape and placed the flowers around it. I kept it pretty simple from there and just added in a few enamel dots and my title. 

While I was working on this layout Shane came into my scrap room to see what I was doing. He loves to look at photos about as much as I do! He saw this photo on my desk and said, "It's Grandma". He's not a man of many words, but those two words let me know that he does indeed remember his grandma, and I hope when he looks back at this layout and others with her on them that he will remember how much she loved him and all the fun they had when we would visit her house.

I've got a lot I would like to journal about for this layout and will either journal directly onto the back of the layout or create a pocket on the back of the layout to hold my journaling.
