It's time for the April Kit reveal and blog hop at Counterfeit Kit Challenge today. Lisa has picked the fun Hip Kit Club March 2019 kit for us to counterfeit. You can read all about it over on the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog. This kit is filled with Maggie Holmes, Heidi Swapp, and Hip Kit exclusives. The color scheme is so pretty with the blues, greens, pinks, and a touch of yellow gold.
Here's a look at the inspiration kit:
And here is a look at my kit:
You can't tell it from this little snippet of a photo, but my kit got rather large this month...thanks to my inability to narrow it down! I started off in one direction and was liking where it was going, and then I had another idea, and well, it just took off from there. It might be hard to see how I was inspired by the inspiration kit, but I really was - let's break it down a bit.
Here is a look at all of my paper choices - 38 paper choices to be exact. I know, I know - that is a lot of papers for a kit, so I'll tell you how I came up with that many.
My first thought was to go with all Maggie Holmes papers. There are a lot of papers from her newest collection and I have a ton of paper pads from her older collections. So, this is what I came up with:
I started off with picking out the floral papers that I liked and added in a few coordinating colors and patterns. I was completely ready to stop right there - and that probably would have been a good idea - but when I really looked at those papers, I knew I would have a hard time using some of them, so I started looking into my paper for something that would be a little easier for me to work with, and this is what I found:
I knew I wanted some brighter blue papers in my kit, so I pulled a few papers from My Mind's Eye - Well, Hello - collection. The blues matched pretty well with the blues in the Amy Tangerine papers, so I think it will be pretty easy to mix and match. I also pulled some yellow gold, pinks, and mint greens from that collection, as well.
I also found the fun paper with the different circles all over it from My Mind's Eye - Hooray - collection and it reminded me of the circle paper in the inspiration kit. I pulled a couple of pinks and mint greens from that collection, as well, to round out my papers.
Looking at the two sets I see that the second set if much more style, but I'm going to be anxious to see which set gets the most use this month. I definitely have ideas for a few of the Maggie Holmes papers, too.
In the inspiration there were a few black and white papers, so I pulled a few of those:
And I added in a few pieces of cardstock and a sheet of of these cut apart pieces. Not all of the colors match with my kit, but a few of them do, and I hope to get a few of them used up.
I don't always add alphas to my kit because they sit in a basket not far from my desk, but I did pull these that matched perfectly with the second half of my kit:
I pulled a lot of washi...I have an idea for a forgery, so we will see if I can get it done the way I want and if I can add some washi to my projects this month.
I pulled a 6x6 paper pad from Pinkfresh - Dream On. A lot of the colors in this collection match the ones in my kit. I also added the ephemera and puffy stickers from the same collection, and I added in a few Maggie Holmes stickers and a couple more die cut packs. I know not everything matches, but bits and pieces do, so they are going in!
And there you have it! I know I am excited to put this kit to use and I am going to be anxious to see what gets used first! Stayed tuned!
Here is the list for the rest of the hop. Be sure to hop along and see the fabulous kits from the rest of the design team. I would love to see your kits, too!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today! I will be back soon with another project to share with you!
Loving the large kit and the papers you chosen :) Love the embellishments and the alphas too :)
ReplyDeleteThat's one large kit Lori! I think you win with 38 sheets of paper! I was good this month and included just 10! Great stuff. But I like the thought process you went through and how you added stuff in that you know you will use to counteract the items that might be a bit more tricky. Making it work for you. Fabulous!
ReplyDeleteAwesome kit, really like the comparison of the two sets of paper. Looking forward to seeing your prijects
ReplyDeleteThis is fabulous, I have serious embellishment envy. You've curated a really usable kit, I think. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely a big kit but looks fabulous! Your embellishments make me green with envy.
ReplyDeleteBig & beautiful! Your process made an interesting read & I enjoyed the thoughtful choice that you made. Totally curious about the washi forgery :D
ReplyDeleteWow! A mega kit!! I'm liking both "kits" of papers. There are lots of opportunities for layering and mixing prints! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteLove the black & white papers and that great selection of washi tape! I'll be posting my mini later this month but you'll see that I also had the same problem narrowing down my choices.
