Growing Up - Let's Get Sketchy

Hello again! I am back with my fourth post of the day. If you are looking for my Sketch N Scrap reveal, my Counterfeit Kit Challenge reveal, or my Scribbles Designs reveal, please scroll on down.

It's time for a new sketch challenge at Let's Get Sketchy today. Brenshevia has created a really fun sketch for us this month:

And this is what I came up with:

Anytime I see a big star element like what is on this sketch, I think of boy pages...or maybe birthday pages...but when I came across this photo of my son practicing driving a few years ago, I knew I wanted to make a layout about it.

Funny thing about this layout - all of the papers that I used for layout came from winter/snow collections! I used Simple Stories - Sub Zero - and Echo Park's - Winter Park - so be sure to look at those "B" sides - they may be perfect for something other than what they are intended for!

I also got brave and stamped directly onto my layout. I hope I get more comfortable with this because I love the look of it!

Here are a couple of close-ups:

I added in a bit of basic journaling on the front but I think I will write a bit more journaling on how this made me feel at the time and how it makes me feel now - 5 years later - on the back.

This was such a fun sketch to work with! I hope you give it a try, too!

Be sure to stop by Let's Get Sketchy to see the beautiful creations from the rest of the design team.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today! Have a great day!

  2. I love your LO! Perfect for the very similar picture I have of my son who just received his lerner’s permit! Great stars and torn papers!
