It's time for the March Kit reveal and blog hop at Counterfeit Kit Challenges today, and if I wasn't wishing for spring already, I surely would be after seeing the fabulous inspiration kit that Lisa has chosen for us this month.
For March we are using the Scrapbook and Cards Today - Blue Skies and Butterflies - kit which was showcased in Spring 2018. You can read all about the kit on the Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog. Here is a look at the beautiful kit:
This kit is full of all things spring - spring colors, butterflies, flowers...all the things I have been dreaming of!
The papers in this kit are from Vicki Boutin, Doodlebug Designs, Dear Lizzy, and Pink Paislee. I had some of the exact same Dear Lizzy and Pink Paislee papers in my supplies and that is where my kit started! Here's a look at my kit - Ready for Spring:
I just cannot wait to dive in and play with this kit! Let's start with a look at my papers:
As I said before, I had a few of the same Dear Lizzy "Stargazer" and Pink Paislee "Pick Me Up" papers already in my supplies, so they are what I picked first. I had the script paper from Dear Lizzy and the yellow paper and frame paper from Pink Paislee. Since my papers were out of a paper pad the script paper and the frames are done in gold instead of color. Along with these papers/collections, I looked at the colors - pinks, yellows, and greens and went to work finding papers in those colors.
I picked the Maggie Holmes "Chasing Dreams" butterfly paper. I don't use butterflies a lot when I scrap so I don't have a lot of these types of papers in my supplies. When I found this butterfly paper it matched so well with the other colors, so into my kit it went!
Next, I wanted a floral. I found one that I thought would work not only with the colors of my kit but also the mood and feel that I was going for in my kit. The floral from Amy Tangerine's "Better Together" collection was just what I was looking for. Since it also had blue in the background, I pulled a couple of blue papers - one from Any Tangerine's "Finders Keepers" collection and one from Pink Paislee's "Pick Me Up" collection.
I thought the striped paper from Pink Paislee's "Take Me Away" collection was very similar to the striped paper in the inspiration kit.
To get the green in my kit, I pulled a couple of the minty colors - the script is from Dear Lizzy "Lovely Day" and the scallops is from Echo Park's "Summer Dreams" collection. For the darker - emerald - green, I pulled a paper from Becky Higgins - I have no idea what collection - and an old paper from My Mind's Eye "Dreamy 2" collection from 2008.
I had to add more pink papers because I know I will be scrapping lots of Ada pictures this month! Some of those pink papers are from 2002 and 2005. Oh, how ready I am to get those used up!
I also added in another butterfly paper, frame paper, and a label/journal card paper. When I looked at everything I pulled, the majority of the papers are from various Dear Lizzy collections...
I added in a couple of scraps and 6x6 papers:
The stripe is the actual Pink Paislee paper that is in the inspiration kit and the 6x6 papers are from that collection as well. The pink scrap also has yellow on the other side and I am hoping to get it used this month.
Here's a look at my embellishments:
In the inspiration kit they have a lot of Pink Paislee die cuts. Since I bought almost this entire collection - and have used very little of it to date I might add - I put in the die cuts that I knew I would more than likely use this month, the rub ons, and the chipboard and paper stickers. I also had the same Glitter Girl enamel dots. I added in an embellishment pack that I had from Vicki Boutin that matched, and the Dear Lizzy "Stargazer" stamp. I also found some old My Mind's Eye layered stickers and die cut pieces that worked well with the papers, so I added those as well. The inspiration kit has wood veneer butterflies in it, and I know I have some around here somewhere, but they weren't wanting to be found! I added in some wood veneer shapes from Elle's Studio and finished off my embellishments with some pink pearls and a couple of rolls or washi tape.
I pulled out several Thickers packs with words to see if I can put them to use:
I don't normally pull a lot of alphas for my kits since all of my alphas are within arms reach of my desk, but as I was going back through my January kit, the Thickers I had pulled for that kit matched this month's kit so I threw them in, too.
Like I said before, I cannot wait to dive into this kit and get creating! You know you've done something right when you get that feeling!
Here is the list for the rest of the hop. Be sure to hop along and see the other fun kits from the rest of the design team. I cannot wait to see your kits this month!

Brilliant! The papers are almost identical to the original. Your embellishments reflect the colours of spring too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful kit. Love all the embellishments you've included and a nice collection of word thickers.
ReplyDeleteOh I wanna play with your kit - that's a whole scrap store of embellishments (well, at least a visit's worth of purchases in my case). Very pretty kit, I hope you enjoy playing with it as much as I enjoyed seeing it.
ReplyDeleteYour kit looks like the spitting image of the original! How lovely. I particularly love that you added that deeper, darker blue. I need more navy in my stash - this works perfectly in your kit. There is so much to love in your selection and I think I'm on my way round for a cup of tea and a play!
ReplyDeleteLori: you have copy-catted the inspirational kit very well! Your March 2019 CKC kit looks amazing! Can't wait to see more creations made with it!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful kit and so much of the same inspiration too :) Love the additions you added to it :) Awesome selection of embellishments too :) Enjoy the month creating :)
ReplyDeleteI'm having Thickers envy!! Great job putting together your kit.
